As good as Daniel Craig has been in the role, I grew up on Roger Moore & I love Live & Let Die. The music goes a long way to deciding what Bond film is best - this one had one of the best theme songs.

For all that it 'had to do' and the weight of 'expectation', and for the sheer 'emotion' carried throughout the story, OHMSS.

and this moment....

Lazenby did a good job in my book, he unfortunately just followed Connery.

Honourable mentions too....

From Russia with Love, Skyfall, Casino Royale & The Living Daylights for me.

This is tough. My 3 favorite are From Russia with Love, Casino Royale, and Skyfall. I am going with From Russia with Love, but man is this close.

Some of it is nostalgia but I've still got to go, solidly, with GoldenEye.

Casino Royale, Goldfinger, Goldeneye.

Goldfinger. Such a great thrill ride from start to finish. The closest thing to a perfect Bond film.

Goldfinger is the perfect Bond movie. Funny and droll, but still exciting and with a bit of an actual espionage aspect with 007 figuring things out, which quickly went away a few installments later for most of the 007 oeuvre. Plus, Connery will always be the best.

If I ranked my top 007 films:

1. Goldfinger
2. GoldenEye
3. From Russia with Love
4. Casino Royale
5. The Spy Who Loved Me
6. Skyfall
7. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
8. For Your Eyes Only
9. Dr. No
10. The World is Not Enough (underrated, IMO)

1. Goldfinger
2. From Russia With Love
3. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. Goldeneye
5. Casino Royale
6. For Your Eyes Only
7. You Only Live Twice
8. Thunderball
9. Skyfall
10. On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Not a lot out of the ordinary there. Probably the most controversial would be YOLT so high. Yes, Connery is not at his best and the stuff of him disguising himself as a Japanese man is stupid, but the rest of the film is an epic 60s spy thriller with a great score, sets, and cinematography. It is maybe the best looking film in the entire series. And Donald Pleasence completely steals the show as one of the most iconic villain portrayals in cinema history. I really like that one.

I really need to rewatch Goldfinger. For that matter, I think a Connery Bond marathon is in order! This weekend maybe.

OHMSS naturally. So well made and well directed and the script does Fleming's best novel justice. Lazenby isn't perfect, but he is solid and sells the tender moments very well.

1. Casino Royale (one of my top ten movies, period)
2. The Living Daylights
3. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
5. Goldfinger
6. Skyfall
7. License to Kill
8. A View to a Kill

I voted Goldeneye over Casino Royale, almost strictly because as awesome as Le Chifre is, I love Alec Trevlyn as the true Anti-Bond. Everything about that final fight is so good, but especially Sean Bean's ****-eating grin throughout.

I voted for From Russia With Love. A great, legit espionage thriller. The more low key gadgets are great. Tatiana is an underrated Bond Girl. Red Grant and Rosa Klebb are excellent villains.

My top ten:

1. From Russia With Love
2. The Spy Who Loved Me
3. Casino Royale
4. Skyfall
5. Goldeneye
6. Goldfinger
7. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
8. For Your Eyes Only
9. The Living Daylights
10.Thunderball

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is my favorite.

It's the template the modern movies are using, but for my money, OHMSS does it better. A longer runtime, a humanized portrayal of Bond, hard hitting action and fewer gadgets (if any). Bond is depicted as a sneak who cracks a safe, goes undercover with an alias and relies upon his own wits and abilities to escape.

The soundtrack is the best in the series and the cinematography is also the benchmark.

We see inside Bond's office, we see M's house, Bond threatens to quit, he later goes rogue with Draco's men and later, his wife is murdered. Lazenby only did one film and I think that only added to the mystique. It packs a lot in.

Connery- From Russia With Love (hard to pick between this and Goldfinger, but FRWL gets better every time I see it)

Lazenby- OHMSS (admittedly, this being my favorite Lazenby Bond film says literally nothing, but for the record I do really enjoy this one)

Moore- The Spy Who Loved Me (Easily Moore's best Bond film, though Golden Gun has the best of Moore's villains by far)

Dalton- Living Daylights (License to Kill may have far better villains, but overall I enjoy this one more, love both Dalton films though)

Brosnan- Goldeneye (the only of Brosnan's films that I really love, Sean Bean is one of the franchise's best villains)

Craig- Casino Royale (Eva Green is the best Bond girl in the entire franchise, and I doubt that will ever change, Craig is absolutely fantastic in his first outing, and that they managed to make the poker game between Bond and LeChiffre as captivating as they did is impressive as hell)

Casino Royale is my overall favorite, with Goldeneye at a close second

Skyfall
Casino Royale

The Spy Who Loved Me is Moore’s best.

Casino Royale.

(Followed by Goldfinger and GoldenEye).

1. Casino Royale
2. From Russia with Love
3. Goldfinger
4. The Spy Who Loved Me
5. Skyfall
6. You Only Live Twice
7. Live and Let Die
8. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
9. Goldeneye

Until Skyfall came along my favourite had always been From Russia with Love. It's still very close but Skyfall just takes it.
