Simple and to the point, I believe dude is Hydra, not a double or triple agent, but I see lots of (fun) discussion otherwise. So I'm just taking a poll, do you believe he's ultimately Hydra, Shield or possibly other? (IE, AIM, independent wildcard, etc)

I'm hoping he's an agent of the Clairvoyant

I'll take a wild guess and say Ward is a triple agent(so still working for shield) and he killed a LMD of Victoria Hand

^ Also opens up a spot for them to add a new character (original creation for the show or established character) on the team.

he shot those agents point blank in the head on that ship...the only ambiguous kill was Hand

He might be straight Hydra, but I think there's more to the story, so I picked "other". He's clearly not a "good guy", but Whedon is rarely straightforward with these kinds of things. (i.e. Jayne on Firefly, Spike or Angel on Buffy).

From that article it talks about subtle things that have been suggested throughout the year. There's a scene right as Ward is leaving with Hand where Coulson walks out in the hallway, and Ward looks back at him and nods and Coulson seems to acknowledge that.

There's something else going on. This is more complex than "triple agent" or him working for Hydra.

I truly hope he's Hydra and stays that way, though I wouldn't have a problem if he later repents and dies for the team.

Think about it this way. Technically Bucky was an agent of Hydra. Is he a bad guy?

this man killed three of the last remaining loyal SHIELD agents, one of them level 8 or higher (If Hand is in charge of the Hub I guess she would be level 9 like Hill) AND a supposed innocent man who wasn't even a thread (Nash), ther is NO way he is a double or triple agent. Ward is clearly Hydra.

Of course it happens that I'm wrong sometimes

I noticed in the article posted that the creators of the show told us to pay close attention to Ward in the closing of the Seeds episode; the only thing I noticed was the camera panning to him as he smiles while Coulson says "The world is full of evil, lies and death, and you can't hide from it." Foreshadowing of his character maybe? I didn't notice Ward actually doing anything suspicious though.

I don't think Ward is a Hydra sympathizer as much as he has his own agenda.I actually hope he is a triple agent and that Coulson or May knows what he's up to.But in any case,it should be interesting to see what's up with him.

Yeah, not sure what they were talking about there either.

Or Spider-Woman, from the comics.
Yeah, I think Ward is most definitely HYDRA, and the showrunners outlined step by step how he seduced each and every team member into thinking he was a good guy all along. He may or may not get a redemption arc at some point, but there's no possible way he's triple-crossing or playing both sides against the middle or anything. He's killed lots of agents, both HYDRA and SHIELD, to prove his worth and loyalty to Garrett.

He does a kind of smirk/sneer behind Skye's back when she's talking about how honored/honorable it all is....I think what the writers were hinting at was that Ward was showing his true feelings behind the mask for just a split second (unseen by Skye, of course). I think he's got an old and legit beef with SHIELD from way back, and willingly joined HYDRA on their recruiting drive because he's got some scores to settle.

I think he's doing a double agent thing. He looked back at Phil like they had planned something when he left.

I voted HYDRA, although I don't think that quite describes it. I think he's loyal to his SO above SHIELD and his SO just happens to be HYDRA. So working with HYDRA, perhaps?

Hydra.

I think it's a great way to make the character more interesting before ultimately killing him off. Much like they should also power up Skye somehow before ultimately killing her off and disbanding the team for good. Also, personally I'm glad Hand is dead.

I think he's neither. He's going solo and making the tough decision and in turn is sacrificing himself for his former team. He no longer feels cut out for SHIELD and wants to ptotect his former teammates and will probably die for it.

If they go and make Ward a "triple agent" or something I will stop watching this show. He killed 3 agents in cold blood. Coulson would NOT believe the ends justify the means in this situation, so Ward is obviously acting on his own. Whether he's loyal to HYDRA, or loyal to Garrett, or has his own agenda is up to debate. But I don't think he's a good guy at all and I like it that way.

You know what would be cool? If they never found out what he did and he convinces them he's still a good guy. Then season two might deal with that secret and if the rest of the team would ever find out. It'd be interesting to watch that conflict on screen with the audience hating the character, but not the team.

I think it was more of a "this mofo still has no idea who I am or what I have planned" look. Like he knows coulson tried so hard and took down Garrett, but he's about to undo all of that work.
