Poll - Spider-Man 2 (2004) vs. Iron Man (2008)

They're both great films and I think it's close, but I give the edge to Iron Man although Spider-Man 2 did have much better fight scenes.

Spider-Man because it has heart

Iron Man was kinda corny TBH

Spiderman 2 easily. Iron Man was a good film but not a great film. Spiderman 2 was incredible.

Raimi's Spiderman was extremely cheesy and really cartoonish.Spiderman 2 is the best out of the trilogy but still it doesn't compare to Iron Man.
Think about it,in all 3 Spiderman movies the villains always kidnap Mary Jane, great writing indeed...
The animated series from 94 are more realistic than Raimi's Spiderman(Organic web shooters anyone?)

Spider-man 2, although Iron Man is pretty close...

I even think Spider-man 1 is better than Iron Man...

Hard to choose.

I find both to be two of the best fun-toned superhero movies. Spiderman 2 was bigger and it had maybe the best action sequence in any superhero film. But Iron Man was also very good, even when the final confrontation was not very good.

I'd say Spiderman 2 wins this, but just for a couple of points.

But Iron Man was great. Iron Man 2 on the other hand...

Spider-Man 2 hands down!!!! :spidey:

Don't get me wrong though, Iron Man is on my top greatest comic book film list and my favorite comic book film of 2008. I jsut find Spider-Man 2 (2004) to be just so fantastic and pays tribute to the 60's comics while having new things mashed togeather. It jsut all blended, perfectly, IMO.

Where's the "Both are equally awesome" option?

I'll vote Iron Man, just because, well he's Iron Man.

I love both films but Spider-Man 2 was when we finally saw the webhead put on the big screen with his full potential.

Perfect action sequences, a lot of heart, and it really felt like what a Spider-Man film should feel like.

Spider-Man 2's final confrontation wasn't all that good either btw, the train fight was way better.

Spider-Man 2 hands down.

Meh, no surprise Spider-Man is winning, all I know is RDJ/Tony Stark >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TM/Peter Parker.

Spider-Man 2. I love Iron Man, but it is not the best comic film ever.

Iron Man. Spider-Man 2 only has the upper hand in the villain category, as Molina's Octopus is the best on screen Marvel villain to date. :otto:

Because mechanical web-shooters are realistic? And wasn't TAS (which I too grew up on) the one that featured everyone, including street thugs, using high-tec leser guns. The one where nobody died but was sent to live in an alternate dimension where they could still talk to family members and live without want of food, water or toilet? Also the one that ended with god like figures revealing Peter's wife was a clone and forcing him to fight himself in alternate realities and swing around with Stan Lee?!

You want a Spidey movie to be that kind of "realistic?!?!"

....Anyway, SM2. Iron Man may be more mature in its comedy (both franchises are full of comedy and IM quite frankly pulls liberally from the Raimi Spidey films and Donner Superman film alike), but SM2 has more heart, character and soul. Plus it has a sense of rising action and amazing action sequences that left the audience exhilarated.

IM is good and better than SM3 (albeit IM2 makes most of the same mistakes of SM3, so....), otherwise the Spidey films win.

SM2 hand-down! No doubt. I remember when I was just 10 years old, I saw that movie in the theater. After that final swing...I couldn't even describe how amazing it was. SM2 is still first place in my list for fav movie. No movie will can top that!
I would eat popcorn or pop during the movie, but during train seq , I dont even eat them at all.

Sheesh, I didn't think this was gonna be that one sided.

Oh well, if we were talking about Spiderman 1 and 3, I think Iron Man 1 is better than both of those easily. But Spiderman 2 was something else. As you say, the only one that was something else.

Maybe I should have rephrased the part where I said that the animated series are more realistic than the movies because I meant the overall characters were more down to earth and didn't feel like they were soap opera characters.Anyway I think you're over-analyzing here about the thugs with high tech weapons and all that.If you're a SM fan then mechanical web shooters are far more realistic than organic ones because it's a mechanism he made and there's an explanation involved but with the organic web shooters he just has unlimited web which doesn't come out when he's not concentrating or isn't confident(That's a load of BS).I can dig the whole climbing on walls, agility and super strength but organic web shooters?
All the SM movies had the exact same ending with Peter going after Mary Jane, talk about limited writing. You said : but SM2 has more heart, character and soul. Plus it has a sense of rising action and amazing action sequences that left the audience exhilarated."
I found those things really schmaltzy with the people in the city always saying:"Go Spidey!" and him being around an american flag all the time when swinging, not to mention that the overall feeling of the movies is that of a soap opera.I personally think X-men 2 and Iron Man are the best Marvel movies but to each their own!:woot:

Spider-man 2 for sure. :woot:

The ending takes a few points of Iron Man... plus Spider-man 2 is almost a pitch-perfect spidey adventure.

I feel Raimi didn't embrace the cheese enough with Spider-man (Though it certainly wouldn't and didn't result in a bad film).

Found the right balance with Spider-man 2... and incorporated to much of it in Spider-man 3. :csad:

Iron Man for sure. I always thought Iron Man was kind of lame, and never had any real interest in the character. I didn't watch the movie til probably late 2009 and I was blown away. I can't think of many movies I've been more entertained by.
