Storm ALL THE WAY! Watching Cyke is like watching a secretary filling a stapler with a fresh box of staples. NOT RIGHT!
 
Both deserved major roles in the film, but I think that Cyclops should have been a bit more significant in the overall story, as he was in the original Phoenix Saga.
 
They should have an equal amount of screen time. Scott should be mourning and later involved in his Phoenix saga role while Storm should be out leading the remaining X-Men against the rest of the Brotherhood. Storm, Beast, Wolverine, and Cyke are the most important X-Men and at least the other three look like getting a good deal in X3. Noone can argue that there is no time for Cyke when we have a 1.5 hr runtime.

Yeah Cyclops was a character that wasnt used much however, he did have a purpose in the first two. He wasn't just standing there showing of his powers. Even if his screentime was short in x2, he definalty delivered primarily towards the end when jean sacrifices herself. Even with his short screentime in X3 (i am pissed about it btw) he serves as an emotional part of the film and in the creation of the pheonix. And X1 he definalty was used very well. He might've been a supportive character compared to Logan, he had a lot to do and had great scenes (the one with professor x when he's unconcious, "I'll take care of them"). So basically Cyke's role might have been short, but he had some great character development and awesome pivotal scenes and I really hope its expanded more in x4.

Now Storm. What was her purpose in the first two? What did she do beside show of her powers and fly the x-jet and barely show of her motherly skills? She had no proper character development, she lact any use and was just a background character, And compared to her comic counterpart, she was basically butchered and underused. Even with her screentime in x2, She just wasnt a strong character as the others were character wise. She really needed to be expanded more in this film and not just be a bg character. Halle said it herself she didnt care if she had only 5 minutes of screentime, just as long as what she has to say is important and serves a purpose. So I'm very happy that the goddess has finally arrived and she is treated correctly. She didnt even fly for god's sake she just hovered in x1!


So in conclusion, as much as I love Cyclops, Storm needed it more.

You make good points, and I agree that Storm should have more meaning and should be more like her comic self.

BUT, in this story, Cyclops should have had more of a role than Storm. This deals with the Dark Phoenix, which Cyke should have had more of a purpose than just opening up Pandora's box.

In all honesty, this should have been Jean AND Cyclops' story to tell. Storm shouldn't have been front and center in this movie before Cyclops.
 
You know... If Xavier dies, Jean inherits the X-Men and the Mansion. She is only 3rd place when it comes to being leader. But seriously, as far as actually "Owning" the X-Men, Jean does. Since Xavier dies in this one.... Phoenix owns the X-Men and the Mansion, legally. Rofl.

well what can I say? I never paid attention to her in the cartoons...but since the last time I saw X2 which was waaaaay before I became a fan, I kept calling her the "red head" but when she died, I was turned off. ... what an excuse. lol but now I have more appreciation for her and who she is. I prefer movieverse Jean/Phoenix... heh...yeah. :rolleyes:

On Storm, I'd say I liked her in the cartoons cause she kicked butt but the only thing that turned me off was her voice...She's got a deep booming voice which didn't and still doesn't work for me... but in the movieverse, I liked her but she didn't do much which kinda bummed me out but Jean caught my eye so I just started to focus on her story and character. sure she has some flaws ( in terms of demonstrating her powers: Ie: her little tiny fight against toad's green spit...eeek..oh well...heh. Damn).

What intrigued me the most was near the end of X2...Jean's death which I was turned off before but as a fan right now, I find it to be one of the emotional aspects of her arc and the power she displayed- wow. Plus she's got some telepath abilities and telekinetic abilities which makes her all the more interesting... awsome powers.

Storm got owned way too many times...by toad. lol...but she busted his tongue in the end. I liked her in X2. When she walks down the stairs with that white top on...wow..she looked really beautiful and the powers she demonstrated were cool. I like tornados. Im looking forward to Storm unleashed...she looks badass in her fight scenes so far from what I've seen. nifty stuff. Im kinda glad she gets to do something more than just being a background character. lol

I'm keeping my feelings about Scott to myself. I don't wanna cry about it. :(:o

Rogue was my favorite in the cartoons.... :O


But after I saw the movies I fell for Phoenix
 
I say Storm, but that's my opinion. I'm glad she get's to fight in this movie, I would love more romance developing between Logan/Storm too :]
