I'm totally caught up in it all. I'm hoping to get a glimpse of him tomorrow. Anyone else going to brave the crowds?

I saw the John Paul II on a trip a long time ago. If I had the opportunity to make it to the East Coast, I would. I am not deep Catholic, but the experience of meeting a world (and cultural) leader cannot be matched. Being amongst any crowd and watching them digest and hang on every word (for good or bad), is an awesome feeling. I am intrigued by this pope because this has redefined what it means to be the pope, in a inter-connected and increasingly diverse world.

You're right. It is funny.

I think the Pope is an authentic man who's humble and lifts the spirits of people up.

Now for the funny part. His social views are mostly opposite of Obama's. The Pope is not for gay marriage. He's not for women becoming priests. And he has done nothing to punish those who abused / sexually assaulted young children in terms of punishment.

I wonder if the Pope supports Obama two serpentine ring with some Arabic language written on it or his idiotic statement about who was to blame in the Crusades. Okay, adding in some color....even if Obama has it/ said it.

At any rate I think the real reason for the warm reception by Obama is to let the Pope advance his agenda on Global Warming if there is such as thing.

Sun intensity and the Earth's magnetic shield play a huge role in the weather. Over the past decade the magnetic shield has slightly weakened and sun intensity / solar flares has gone up.

" Global warming to me is a green hoax ". They would be much better off focusing on air pollution, but that might rock the boat with China and India who will be the biggest culprits in the future.
