SPAWN. I tried to like this character. I really did. I enjoyed the hell out of the first season of the animated series. I even liked the movie. But the comic is completely unenjoyable for me. It makes no sense, it's inconsistent, contradictory, & just ill-conceived. My two biggest problems for the longest time have been 1-if Al was dead for 5 years & Cyan can speak in perfect sentences-making her AT LEAST 4-when did Terry make his move? At the funeral? 2-Malebolgia gave Spawn his powers. Spawn uses said powers AGAINST Malebolgia. Why can't Malebolgia take them back? Or kill him? It makes no sense. And after I read issue # 100 I gave explicit instructions to all my loved ones to bash me upside the head f they ever caught me touching another Spawn book.
SILVER SURFER. Never really grabbed me. Similar to my Spawn argument. If he won't use the power the way Galactus intended, why doesn't the big G just take them back?
VENOM. I was once a big Venom fan, but then he got overdone, overused, overexposed & I just got tired of him. I find him highly inconsistent & contradictory as well. I actually found him more likeable in the movie than on the page.
CARNAGE. Pretty much the same. Again, I liked him at first, but I got tired of him. And if I want mindless, senseless violence, I don't go to New York, I go to Gotham. Joker's been doing it longer & he's better at it.
AQUAMAN. How much crime happens underwater that they need a superhero? J/K. But seriously, nothing about him ever grabbed me.
NAMOR. Ditto.
IRON MAN. I've stated my reasons in too many threads.
WONDER WOMAN. Despite Lynda Carter's jump-starting my voyage to manhood, the character just holds no appeal for me at all.
SUPERMAN. To be honest, it's noone's fault really that he's so uninteresting. He's been around so long that seemingly every Superman story has been told. Twice. They made him so powerful in the beginning that it seemed almost impossible to present him any real challenges. Then in order to present him a challenge they have to either strip his powers away (Kryptonite, red sun, general loss of powers altogether) or bring in something unstoppable that noone can defeat. (e.g. Darkseid, Doomsday) So basically in every story he's either invincible & infallible or he's getting his @$$ kicked. Can we get a middle ground?
