Honestly I am sad to see The Incredible Hulk so low, I think it was genuinely a great film. The action set-pieces were amongst the best, the color pallet was unique and gritty, the score was great and the acting was solid. General Ross was a solid villain and Abomination was among the more memorable ones amongst the unmemorable ones, for whatever its worth.
19: Thor the Dark World
Just straight up boring. Malekith or whatever his name is is arguably the worst villain we have seen in the entire MCU (and that says a lot), the fights were pretty bad by Marvel standards and the romance with Thor and Jane felt forced (and it was, since Portman didnt even want to be in the movie by her own admission). The movie as a whole just did not flow very well, felt choppy and the human world parts felt filler.
Not a terrible movie, but not a good one either. The comedy was decent and some of the Loki characterization was great (like him getting upset when his mother died), those are the only redeeming qualities.
18: Thor
Honestly I found this Thor to just be boring, Loki was one of the best villains in Marvel in this movie but thats literally all it had going for it. The fighting sequences were for the most part also pretty bad (with the exception of Thor infiltrating the shield camp), the human world (and romance) was for the most part all boring (and there was a lot more of it) and the comedy just didn't land for me with the exception of one or two jokes.
17: Iron Man 3
I just wasn't feeling this movie. Killian was actually a decent villain (nothing special, but not bad either) but the Mandarin twist was in poor taste regardless (like really broke the movie), especially since it was the final Iron Man movie (most likely). Not much action, when there was action it was pretty good though. Tony is a phenomenal MC so the characterization I appreciated.
16: Dr. Strange
Honestly this movie had nothing going for it apart from visuals. I dont even know what else to say, you can have a good time watching this drunk or high af but beyond that its just forgettable. That one sequence with Strange and the Ancient One talking and everything going slow motion was a phenomenal scene though holy ****, such a shame everything else was borderline average.
15: Iron Man 2
Eh I dont hate this movie as much as some, I think it had some good moments (mainly exploring Tonys dark side more then any other film) but it was definitely bloated. Justin Hammer was awesome, Whiplash was forgettable, which is a shame seeing as how he actually had some great motivation and early dialogue with Tony (in the cell). I also think that much like the first two Thors and Iron Man 3 it lacks "that" scene, a scene that blew me away with how cool or well made it was.
14: Black Panther
Yep, I didn't board the hype train here. I thought that Klaw and Killmonger were two of MCUs best villains (Klaw for just being funny af and Killmonger for being amazing) which is why its a shame that they stole each others screentime and both got off'd this movie. Killmonger should have been set-up this movie and be the main villain in the second, although with that said Killmonger made this movie. If it wasnt for him this would have been even lower. The action was pretty mediocre (the whole final fight felt painfully small scale despite it trying to be large scale), the CGI was bad, the comedy was at an all time bad for Marvel (I mean come on, I cant be the only one who cringed really hard at the "what are those" scene) and some of the story decisions just didnt work.
Killmonger was amazing though, second best villain in Marvel.
13: Ant-Man
This was a fun time, simply put. The comedy was fantastic, the MC is great and the fights were really cool. The heist movie aspect of it was very cool as well. The villain was amongst the more forgettable ones but no harm no foul. Definitely a good time.
12: Spiderman: Homecoming
I didnt like it as much as many, but I did think it was a really good movie. Vulture was a top 5 villain in Marvel (that scene with him and Peter in the car was amazing). The fights were dope, it was funny and they finally nailed both Peter Parker and Spiderman (before we either got a great Peter Parker but awkward Spiderman or a hipster Peter but a spot-on Spiderman). The Tony/Peter interactions were great. I think what keeps it from being higher is simply the low stakes/tension (which i am aware it wasnt going for) and any notable action set-pieces, even if they were entertaining enough.
11: Captain American: The First Avenger
Really good movie, I really liked the build-up to Cap. The time period was dope, the fights were great and Red Skull was a good villain. I did care for the Cap/Peggy romance, it was done very well.
10: The Incredible Hulk
Underrated af. I already explained why I like it.
9: Avengers: Age of Ultron
Another underrated one, I think the hate mainly stems from the fact that the trailers made it out to be something its not. Ultron was actually a dope villain, even if he lacked presence (he made up for it with charisma and sharp dialogue). A lot of the action set pieces were fantastic including the first one and Hulk vs Iron Man (the final fight on the other hand was very average). It did have a few problems, including the 3rd act and the siblings but it had a lot of positives as well.
8: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1
Funny af, awesome tone and great characters. A better villain could have put it even higher on the list, for what it was going for it nailed it.
7: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2
Liked the emphasis on the characters more in this one, humour on point, cool action set pieces. Interesting villain, liked his connection to Quill.
6: Avengers
Damn what popcorn fun. Seeing these characters bounce off each other for the first time was something else, the infighting (like Iron Man vs Thor or Thor vs Hulk) was great. As usual Im not too big on the large scale fodder beat-em-ups in the final act but the stuff that preceded it was gold.
5: Thor: Ragnarok
LOL finally an awesome Thor movie. Amazing style with this one, badass villain, awesome fights, brilliant comedy, great characters. Thor went from being my least favourite avenger to one of my favourites, loved this change in direction for the series.
4: Captain America: Winter Soldier
Whats to say about this that hasnt been said. Amazing action, drama and suspense. A lot more in way of real interesting plot here that is normally lacking in Marvel movies, but it doesnt loose its sense of fun.
3: Iron Man
The movie that started it all. RDJ nailed it, the perfect Iron Man. This is how you do an origin story, probably the best one I've ever seen in film.
2: Captain America: Civil War
I mean come on, the best part about the first two Avengers movies were seeing these characters battle each-other whether it be in combat or in words. This is what this movie was all about, so needless to say I adored every second of it.
1. Avengers: Infinity War
Of course this is first, it nailed it out of the park. Best action in the MCU, humour that rivals Ragnarok/Guardians and the best villain in the MCU who actually wins. The screenwriters deciding to make the story about Thanos (as an MC) was a stroke of genius, in no other way would they have been able to juggle this many characters.
