Post-Dunkirk: Rank your top 5 Nolan movies

The Dark Knight
Inception
Dunkirk
Memento
Batman Begins

1. THE PRESTIGE
2. BATMAN BEGINS
3. THE DARK KNIGHT
4. INCEPTION
5. INTERSTELLAR

I did not like Dunkirk. I found it pointless. It had absolutely no story and character development. Just a mixture of scenes. Like a documentary.

The Prestige
Dunkirk
The Dark Knight Rises
Memento
The Dark Knight

Interstellar
Dark knight
The prestige
Dark knight rises
Inception

Im not that into war films, I liked that nolan tacked scifi before. I find dunkirk to be like an amusement park attraction as opposed to a film telling a meaningful story. Also I understand the soldiers were trying to survive, but it felt like they were deserting/finding a scummy way to get home. Not really uplifting, thought provoking, or imaginative

In no particular order

The Prestige
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Inception
Interstellar

1. Batman Begins / The Dark Knight
2. Dunkirk
3. Inception
4. The Prestige

What can I say? Maybe being British and knowing a lot about Dunkirk gives it extra weight for me. Only the Batman movies have affected me more, due to my love for the character.

It's not just you. It's a gorgeous, mature, and emotional film that is indicative of an artist who is reaching the peak of his powers. My top in no particular order includes: Dunkirk, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, and Memento. Caveat, I love Batman Begins and have a special spot in my heart for it and it is only excluded because I have to choose five and I have to admit it is not as well made as the others.

1. The Dark Knight Trilogy
2. Memento

Dunkirk was very well made, but I'm a story/character person so the film didn't do much for me. Also not a big WWII fan (it's been done to death), so this was the first film of his I wasn't excited for.

Yep, I think it's universally recognized that pre-Dunkirk, Nolan had four masterpieces in Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight and Inception. At this point the only deciding factor is whether you personally prefer those 4 films to his others, and where Dunkirk now fits in.

  1. Batman Begins
  2. The Dark Knight
  3. The Prestige
  4. Dunkirk
  5. The Dark Knight Rises
I loved Interstellar and liked Inception, now I really need to see Memento and anything that has his name attached to it as a director.
