Included in several articles relating to the reveal of Spider-Man potentially joining the MCU in Cap3, was the tie bid that a Phil Lord helmed Animated Spider-Man maybe the web slinger's next appearance on the big screen.

Personally I like the sounds of it, but would rather have a live action adaption of the webslinger and save the cartoons for the small screen and straight to video releases.

It said they would produce, not direct. Doubt this'll happen.

The Wall Street Journal originally reported this so it's from a credible source and should be taken seriously

Disney / MARVEL owns the Animated rights. They would need permission 2 do this & why would they get it ?

Do we have the legal documents of the agreement? Sony very well could have the distribution rights to the character's theatrical releases all together. Or further Disney may feel they could profit enough off of merchandising from an animated Spider-Man film to allow Sony to make said film.

Well, Sony owns film rights and maybe they don't have to make just live action stuff.

But the rights are packaged as animation and film rights separately, so Sony technically shouldn't have the rights to make an animated movie. The rights went back before TSSM was cancelled

Well, if Sony discussed that with Lord/Miller... they really should know better.

Rights or not, I'm personnaly not interested in an animated movie. I'm not a kid anymore ^^!

I am Neither interested in spin-offs. I just want "Spider-Man" movies ... So at the moment, the best news would be the Spidey's rights reverting to MARVEL(reboot or not I don't care), or TASM3 with Andrew Garfield returning in the leading role.

Guys, why are you interested in an animated movie? :)

? did i miss something?

They at one point talked about for weeks about crossing over X-Men & Fantastic Four. Suddenly months go by & its never mentioned again. They cant do it legally without permission. There has been no mention of that X-Men TV show since the first rumor. They cant do that either :woot: They have the live action theatrical film rights nothing more nothing less. Anything else they need permission from Disney

Wait so Fox can't crossover X-Men and FF? That's odd, but I guess Marvel had some really serious foresight when they wrote up those contracts!

Because so far, the best adaptation of Spider-Man has come in animated form.

Imagine the writing of Spectacular coming together with the imageworkings of someone like Pixar.

SM 2 and the 90's siears say high lol and lego movie is way overrated and not even that good. Lego was boring and not even funny outside of a few things with batman in it.

A Lego Spider-Man movie would be excellent and would draw a lot of attention especially if the Batman Lego movie is a success.

Is it a direct to DVD of Spectacular Spider-Man?

People have their problems with Sony but for me Spider-Man 2 is in my top 3 CBMs of all time and Spectacular Spider-Man is my second favorite animated series of all time.

Marvel by comparison doesn't have a movie in my CBM top 3 (Iron Man is my top 4) and Marvel animated shows are shockingly bad.

That said, the thought of Spider-Man made by Marvel excites me whether live action or animated (on the big screen).

Guardians was pretty good if you ask me, it did a better job capturing that Star Wars for a new generation feel than JJ's Star Trek did (Though his actual Star Wars is probably going to be a different story). I found myself forgetting I was watching a comic book movie throughout and had one of the best times watching a cbm in awhile.

Awesomeness. Wow that would be nice

I honestly think I'd rather have a Sinister Six/Aunt May team up movie than this.

One e-mail says Lord/Miller would direct this one...
