Power Rangers 4.0

I haven't really followed Power Rangers for a long time, and it was only after I stopped watching that I found out about Saban's method for making a Power Rangers show. Why is he so cheap? And why is his re-acquiring the rights a good thing? Both Disney and Saban just use all the special effects footage from the shows they adapt, profitting from as little work as possible. Why won't someone actually make a totally original Power Rangers series? Or atleast a series in the same mold as Sentai/Power Rangers? Is America just that cheap? Does every original American superhero series have to be generic teen angst and romance up until the last 5-10 minutes of an episode?

I think Saban probably just want to make the show as cheaply as possible to maximize the profit, since shooting all-new footages can be quite expensive. Also, their deal with Toei (maker of Super Sentai which inspires Power Rangers) may prohibit them from making a totally-new Power Rangers since Toei makes alot of money off the rights from the adaptation, and if Saban wants to make their own PR I'm not sure if Toei would be okay with it. Of course, Saban can make a new franchise that doesn't call Power Rangers, but I doubt they'd want to do that.

"A long time ago, among moutains far from any civilization, there was a center researching on human innovation. One day, the main computer of the research became malicious and went berserk. Humanity managed to stop this, and peace came back...or so it seemed.

Humans, now in peace, predicting that their enemy could go berserk and attack another time, decided to build giant robots and machine, and trained chosen warriors to fight against it. Finally, this day has come. The name of the team formed to fight against the enemy is Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters! Now their battle begin."

Seems obvious that Toei did Gobusters as tailored-made for Saban's adaptation for a new Power Rangers series.

Not really its more last yr/this yr been big anni stuff for toku in general and pr is still a toku and they are putting some nods/influence of pr in. Also some nice stuff. Abbout gobusters. Can't wait to check it out.

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger ended today

They pretty much owned the Emperor by spamming Gokai Changes.

They even used past Super modes for the first time.

In the end the Gokaiger's return all the ranger powers to their rightful owners.

Some quick cameos from the ranger power's owners

It feels like just yesterday everyone was talking about the fanwank opening of Gokaiger episode 1.

The best part is that the series is 51 episodes. Plenty to rewatch again(If Go-busters stinks)

I think some of the weak points in Gokaiger were the villains. They were seriously underused.

I'll more post pictures when it gets subbed.

Power Rangers is now on Amazon Instant Video for Prime Members

Interesting new costumes and helmets. Production values also look a little higher than what I usually recall for Sentai/Power Rangers.

I really like the robot/costume work. Looking forward to the new Go-buster show.

I can't wait to see ep 51 myself soon. Still waiting for raw/subs to make it to places I go to online.

Also speaking of pr what did everyone think of yesterday new episode.

It was alright, we've only seen a fraction of what the black box can do so things are bound to get better with each new episode.

Ya I thought it was an imrpovement over first part of samurai. I hope it continues to hold up. Only thing I still hate samurai being spilt into two smaller seasons. Really think that is a lousy way to do things and drags out one series to long. Still crossing fingers that they don't do that for future series, bbut we still have very little to go by for 2013 series.

Now for gokaiger finale, just finished watching a raw of it. It was pretty sweet finale I think. Sure would have been sweet for a second legendary war. But what they did was still just as good. Loved how they took out the attacking forces with silver and red taking them out and then the giant horse too.

Then the others taking out the last general guy. Some good changes there. Was totally lol seeing green turn into zurban sword mode. But was sweet. The finale battle was great with papa gilz. Good usae of zyu-gosei usages along with goranger-jetman too. The super mode of the 6 was also pretty sweet. Loved that it was a silver charge in cannon to make the finale blow on papa gilz.

The end with them celebrating was nice and them leaving the planet. That was interesting. I thought they stay on earth. But I did like they gave back the powers to the vet rangers. The flashes of various rangers getting keys was also a very fitting end. Though makes me wonder for the super sentai vs. Kamen rider movie, and if there is a normal gokaiger vs go-busters movie if the gokaigers will be able to use past powers any more.

Gokaiger's final battle. Spamming 35 GokaiChanges.

Yikes.

It's not even a question anymore...currently Sentai > PR by leaps and bounds. That finale was awesome. Go-Busters looks amazing too.

I managed to catch the farce known as Super Samurai. It was indeed as poor as the show's first half. Really bad dialogue and acting.

I thought thhere was some improvement with samurai. Sure its still bad but there is a bit better things in it.

I've already finished watching the final episode of Gokaiger, and despite all the criticisms it received (some of them are certainly valid, such as weak villains, uneven tributes, and lack of focus on the Gokaigers themselves), I think this series did more good than bad. Yes, it was a massive dose of fanservice, but for anyone who loves Super Sentai, it doesn't get better than this. And good example is cited below:

Gokaiger's final battle. Spamming 35 GokaiChanges.

I don't know if Saban will adapt Gokaiger into Power Rangers or not, but there's no way they can ever top this action scene for its sheer number of Gokai Changes (or Morphin', as PR likes to call it). And Saban probably won't use all 34 sentai teams because MMPR adapted Zyuranger, so on an epic scale there's really no comparison.

I'm looking forward to Gobusters this week and I think it's going to be a terrific series, but I'm going to miss Gokaiger. Thankfully we're getting Superhero Taisen soon and probably Gokaiger vs Gobusters, so these lovable pirates aren't going away anytime soon yet.

Just the production, but we already knew this episode would have American fight footage in it, since they used the footage from the episode that introduced SuperShinkenger mode last season.

The acting and dialogue are still bad, even on the scale of lowered standards for Samurai.

I couldn't show this episode to anyone over 8 years old without feeling embarassed.

I wish they'd reboot the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

What's the point of rebooting pr. When its a adaptation from sentai. And all the deals with toei and footage and all that. Doing a straight up mmpr reboot is kinda pointless.

As for super samurai still I thought it was a bit better then past episodes. And to me I thought there was improvement in some like jayden/emily and mike. Not much with mia and kevin was still save old. But the deal there is how scripts are written and how actors are told to act.

For anyone in the Lexington, Kentucky area who are Power Rangers fans....next month there is a comic con here that has a bunch of actors from several of the series as guests http://lexingtoncomiccon.com/index.html

Very sweet c. lee, to bad i am not in that area. Would be cool to meet some former ranger actors.

Go-busters episode one opening

Some episode 1 remarks.

-Has a very different atmosphere. It's blending Power Ranger terms with Kamen Rider filming techniques

-At the moment no stock footage. They all transform in real time

-Still weird to hear "It's morphin time" over in Japan. The brace actually says it but the transformation code is "Let's Morphin"
