Philadelphia aesthetician Melanie Engle, whose specialty is eyebrow shaping, is no stranger to odd requests. But nothing prepared her for being asked by one client to book a bikini wax appointment for her 8-year-old daughter.
“The first thing I had to do was try and stay calm, and not yell ‘What are you thinking?’ ” said Engle. “This wasn’t about the girl developing hair early — it was the mother’s obsession with wanting her daughter to be a supermodel.”
Waxing body hair — from the simple shaping of an eyebrow arch to the painful transformation of the bikini line — has long been a rite of passage for adult women. But now, more mothers around the U.S. are taking their tweens — kids 10 to 12 years old and some even younger — to salons to get body hair removed.

The story continues at the above link, but seriously everyone is this not one of the most disgusting things you've ever heard in your life?

that is supremely disturbing!

There's nothing like setting your daughter up to be a an international victim of a global pedophile ring.

I find this quote to be very disturbing.

The owner could not be reached for comment, but did tell the New York Post that she has seen more than 200 kid clients this year and that kids should begin waxing at 6 years old.

Ummm....that is extremely disturbing and those mothers...ugghh:nono:

I don't get what the fuss is over.

Depending on what you mean by that, because I am reading your statement in two ways.

The purpose of waxing is to basically fulfill the fantasies of some men who are attracted to young girls. There's a quote by Larry Flynt out there somewhere spelling this out.

We're talking about making young female children's genitals more attractive.

Do you get my point, without the need to get explicit?

If you don't I'm not going to spell it out for you.

I guess but I just don't see the mothers lining their daughters up to be vagina models.

If you read the article, one beautician (or whatever they are called) did about 200 young girls last year.

Some mothers are lining up their daughters to do this.

The article isn't even specific to bikini waxes. It's about body hair removal procedures in general. And one of the bikini wax examples is about a girl with hair so long it was going down her leg so it sounds like a natural solution to me.

Not sure the law but wouldn't that dude be in trouble for even looking at a pre teen girl in the nude?

Am I missing something here? Since when was fulfilling male fantasies the primary reason for a bikini wax?

I don't really see the big deal here either.

But what if a guy did it? Seems he would be breaking a law

:funny: @ Morg asking the questions in this thread.

It's not, but it is obsessively bizarre for mothers to want their preteens to be waxed in that area...most girls that age don't have much pubic hair, if any. Removal of pubic hair is often for sexual reasons or because the person doesn't want any hair exposed. What preteen girl has enough pubes to be exposed outside of her bathing suit?

Exactly, so would that not be a viable reason to remove hair if it's there in the first place?

I realize I'm not exactly in the best position to answer, but it could just as easily be justified as grooming and maintaining a personal image. Doesn't have to be sexually related.

Having hair removed from arms, face, neck would be maintaining a personal image.

Having it removed from down there isn't not about that.

What's the point at that age? Like I said, barely any hair, if any, so why not just leave it? Without being too graphic, pubic hair on women does not generally first develop in the area that a bikini wax would cover (which is only the sides, near the inner thigh). Either these are some hairy little girls, or the mothers are nit-picking like crazy. I don't think it can be justified as grooming/maintaining a "personal image" when the mothers are taking their daughters to get it done.

oh yeah, that's hot!!!

:hehe:

no, not really. that's pretty sick. it always bothers me when i see parents parading their kids around in those teen and kiddie beauty contests.

So what about the virgins that do it, even though they don't plan on having sex anytime soon? Are they just an anomaly?

This isn't even counting the girls I know that have plainly stated "it looks better" for them. It's the same exact deal with breast implants. A lot will do it for satisfaction from others, but there are also many others that do it for personal reasons.

If the girl has hair down to her legs, then she needs a haircut. y'know that things that barbers do with the hair on one's head.

All a bikini wax will do for a girl who hasn't reached puberty is remove peach fuzz
