Rumor: Robert Rodriguez to Producer Predator Reboot?

Rumor has it that 20th Century Fox is developing a Predator reboot with Robert Rodriguez and Troublemaker Studios in the producers chair. This according to Bloody Disgusting’s reliable sources, who also claim that the idea is for the film follow a team of commandos who must face a mysterious race of vicious monsters. That’s right, not just one Predator, but a whole group. That change alone is sure to cause fanboys to throw a hissy.

I’d be more excited if Rodriguez was personally attached to direct, but his upcoming slate is pretty damn full already, and it seems very unlikely. Also, no writer has been hired to pen a screenplay yet, which means this project must be at the earliest stages of development.

I'm more open to these kinds of things than most but this is utterly stupid, the original still holds up so why not just make a Predator 3 ?

In the thread for Predators 2 I had made references to specific posts in the original thread. I can't currently post a link to those posts, but I wanted people to be able to find them easily. So I bumped it so it wouldn't be buried somewhere on the umpteenth page of this message board.

The posts I had made reference to were on pages 25 to 28 on the original (now closed) thread. Later when I have a working computer, I'll post links to and/or quote the original thread directly. But my mobile phone has certain limitations, and that's one of them.

Predators was originally meant to be a remake, Robert Rodriguez convinced Fox to go the sequel route.

i rewatched the movie. if you watch it on TV before sleep its a decent scifi movie. simple and badass.

how Noland dies was just bad. he deserved a good dying scene. and the ending is also strange. there was never hope that they could go of the planet so showing new humans falling down didnt have the impact that it should. the movie ends like they both have zero chance. when they were fit with tons of weapons they couldnt defeat them. now they ae both injured and without weapons.

I think they should've completely scrubbed Topher Grace/Edwin and kept Fishbourne in longer and made him the traitor.

The implication of the end is that a new batch of prey must include a new batch of Predators, therefore a new spaceship.

yes i know. the ending shows that the new hunt begins. but they should have zero chance coming close to the predators. Isabelle and Royce are walking in the opposite directiong. they are not walking to the new humans.


i did like what Iabelle said. that the hunted humans are predators on Earth. and that maybe they should not go back. double meaning from the title. Predators.

it makes me angry how much potential Noland had. he was a perfect character for a Predator movie.

Well, I do recall Rodriguez' 1994 Predators script ending with [BLACKOUT]Dutch hitching a ride to Earth on a Predator ship.[/BLACKOUT]

ohh and the super predators were to much. a normal predator is strong and fast. a human can not defeat him. those super predators are stronger than a normal predator. based on the rules that they created Royce shouldnt have chance. they could use the same predator race with different armor.

3 Predators, Supers at that, with all their tools and toys, and hounds, were nowhere near as effective as this mother****er.

I'm not entirely sure they where 'super' Predators, since they didn't display any different tactics or seem to be stronger than a normal Predator.

Lets no forget the normal one had been strung up on a pole for a few days and clearly wasn't in fighting condition when he took on the black masked Predator.

And even then, he still could have won. Every time I see him tackle the Super Predator, I think to myself, the fight would have been over in an instant, if he had just swiped his head off. But no, he actually tackles him first, then uses his wristblades.

thank god that they will in the next movie ignore the super predators. you know how hollywood is. they keep what worked and ignore what didnt work.

A sequel would be nice because I liked the movie despite its short-comings. It's better than the AVP dreck we got and IMO at least on par with Predator 2. Not the level of Predator but I don't think they'll ever be able to recreate that kind of movie.

Predator 2 is far better than Predators though.

It is and isn't at times. I found certain parts of Predator 2 as absurd or more so than parts of Predators but I liked the concept in Predators more. Predator 2 had Danny Glover which is both a plus and a minus. Bill Paxton was a major plus. Gary Busey is just an insane wildcard.

Haha yeah. I just thought all the characters in Predators were so boring and cliché.

A lot of them were but the rest of it felt inspired. Better actors and story would have helped but the set up and the jungle planet were great. I wanted to see more of it. It was a very pale comparison of Predator but one I think has potential to do more.

Yeah the concept is pretty interesting, but it didn't really go all the way. Would really like a new Predator movie, the possibilites are endless.
