Predictions From 1911 for 2011

I think if you flew American Airlines, it really would take 2 days to get to England.

No c x or q. :p

He's not too far off though when he goes on to say that English will be a condensed language. LOL AMIRITE? :p

My favorite one is: "A man or a woman unable to walk 10 miles at a stretch will be considered a weakling." I think he'd be quite disappointed.

No mosquitoes or flies? O how I wish that one was true.

Well, it's not that hard to predict some of these. There not being wild animals is just silly.

And we all knew Nicaragua would become an American state. The coke state.

I came into this thread fully prepared to mock the ignorance of people from 1911, but they were actually fairly prescient, probably because the predictors were academics and scientists.

One thing's a weird, though. In the opening paragraph the author says that these predictions are for 2001, "a century from now", so the article must have been written in 1901.

"Strawberries as large as apples will be eaten by our great-great-grandchildren for their Christmas dinners a hundred years hence."

lulz
