Anyone else ever get those promotional offers in an email with a promo code to enter with say ticketmaster? Interesting the only seats available are sections off to the side. I say it's their way to get rid of the less desirable seats early!

Unfortunately most of the 'good' seats in center orchestra are now being sold as "premium seats," which means they cost at least twice as much as a regular ticket. Producers started doing this a few years ago to keep up with the scalpers and ticket brokers who were getting hundreds for good seats to their shows. Tourists who are only in town a few days and are desperate to see Wicked will pay anything to go, so they're just taking advantage of it. Today a premium seat to Young Frankenstein can run up to $450 a ticket.

Even without the promo code, the best seats you can usually find to a Broadway show on any given night are probably as good as what you'll get with the promo code.

Last March I was trying to get two tickets to Mary Poppins, and the only sections available for that weekend were upper mezzanine or balcony. But if I looked in the premium section, there were 6th row center seats available to each performance...for $250 a ticket. :cmad:

The premium seats aren't always sold...your best bet to get them would be to wait on the cancellation line at the box office, if they're not sold close to show time they'll usually sell them back at the regular price just to fill the seat.
