Impossible Pictures and Warner Bros. are preparing to adapt Primeval to the big screen.
Primeval is a British sci-fi series that follows a group of scientists who track down and capture prehistoric creatures which are breaking through a rift in time to the present day.
The popular series first aired in the UK during 2007 and is now in its third season. It was created by Tim Haines (who is well known for his creature work on BBC’s Walking with Dinosaurs) and is produced for UK’s ITV by Impossible Pictures, a production company founded by Haines and Jasper James (also of Walking with Dinosaurs fame).
It is not yet known if actors from the television series will appear in the feature film.
Work will begin on the film later this year.
In additional Primeval news, Impossible Pictures are apparently in talks to produce a version of the series specifically for a US audience.

Variety reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired film rights to Primeval, the ITV series that airs in the U.S. on BBC America and SCI FI Channel.

Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster will produce through Goldsman's WB-based Weed Road.

In the series, ferocious prehistoric and futuristic creatures appear through wormhole time portals, and a covert team headed by an evolutionary scientist tries to close the doors and quietly thwart the creatures.

The series, which has run three seasons, was co-created by Tim Haines and Adrian Hodges and produced by Haines' company, Impossible Pictures.

"There is a solid mythology to the series, but the movie has the dinosaur element of 'Jurassic Park' and the time travel element of 'Lost,' and it just feels like the kind of big movie that Warner Bros. does well," Foster said.

Mmmmmmmm,

Not sure about this ....

The TV series is interesting but has had hours and hours to set up the back story and characters. I've also yet to see anything with Dinosaurs that comes close to the original Jurassic Park.
