Yesterday I tried with no success to get Vista to work with a shared printer and kept getting the "not authorized" prompt. All of the troubleshooting FAQs I could find deal only with computers running similar OS's which doesn't help at all.
Computer 1 is a desktop running XP with the shared printer authorizing the everybody group to have print privilages. The firewall is set to trust Computer 2.
Computer 2 is a wireless laptop running Vista. The firewall on this system includes Computer 1 as being trusted. I can see the shared printer on the network but like I said, I get a "not authorized" message when trying to use the printer setup applet.
How do I get this stupid printer to work? It isn't a firewall problem so is it a driver problem or a privilege problem?
