http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...aul-oneal-shooting-20160806-photogallery.html I see the first picture and it says to stop shooting kids. I am thinking there should be some care on the parental side, to not have an 18 year old that steals a car and drives it reckless putting others in danger. I get that cops shouldn't make the decision to take their lives, but at the same time I'm seeing some really bad absentee parenting that's raising hoodlum young men. Are we ever going to address the criminal acts in many of these protested shootings?

stealing a car & driving like a lunatic doesn't deserve you shot in the back while you are running away.

from what's reported over here in the UK, the 'Criminal acts' that some of the victims have done should never result in such force being used. should (forgive me if I get his name wrong, i'm awful at remembering names) Eric Garner have been choked to death for (as it was reported here) illegally selling cigarettes?

It's much easier to protest than teach kids how to behave. While it's unfortunate he was shot, he shouldn't have been in a stolen vehicle fleeing from the cops in the first place. You can't control what a police officer will do unfortunately but you damn sure can avoid being a criminal that puts yourself in these dangerous situations. People are dumb.

He shouldnt have been shot in the back, but the dumbass shouldnt have been committing a serious crime. I did dumb things when I was young but not **** that would get me on the bad side of cops. Have some sense, youngsters.

Choosing criminals as your martyr for social injustice protests is like making Bill Cosby the keynote speaker at a Women's Health summit. It falls on deaf ears and no one cares.

He even used the frickin' car to try and hit people. Totally insane to see protestors think a situation like that is a worthy cause.

The kid was an idiot, plain and simple. I totally get behind not making him out to be some kind of saint or using him to be the face of the issue but an officer is only allowed to used deadly force in the defense of his life or another officer or civilians life. Had they shot him as he was trying to hit people with the vehicle this wouldn't be news.

But officers are not meant to be judge, jury, and executioner. If he is no longer directly threatening the officer or the lives of others the cop had no right to shoot him in the back. This isn't a war zone and police are held to a higher standard because they are our first line of defense against bad people in these worlds.

If the officers just decide they can shoot any criminal regardless of the crime then they are no better than the criminals. You want to wear the badge then you follow the rules and regulations more so than others.
