I don't know about yall but I think that PS3's exlusive games are really starting to shape up. I can't wait for games like SOCOM 4, inFamous 2, etc. Still haven't played Hard Rain yet either.

What exclusives are you looking forward to?

Its Heavy Rain! You need to get that. One of the best games released this generation. Im biased bc its my favorite PS3 title although I know its not for everyone

I honestly dont even know whats ocming out this year. The three biggest releases for me just came out (HR, GoW3, FFXIII). Theres nothing that I know of that Im anticipating. Super Street Fighter IV but thats multiplatform. Im hoping for Sony to announce Infamous 2 and/or Resistance 3. Those are pretty much a given, but whether they come out this year or next remains to be seen.

Well GT5 might come out this year. we know there will be move titles. Motor Storm 3 i think might be coming out this year. we'll know more at E3. others have already been mentioned.

the two best gaming experiences of the year for me have been Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain. Incredibly close behind are Infamous and Batman Arkham Asylum.

Resistance 1, Resistance 2, MotorStorm 1, MotorStorm 2, Heavenly Sword, God of War III, Demon's Souls, Warhawk, Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2, Siren: Blood Curse, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, inFamous, Yakuza 3, Valkyria Chronicles, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Heavy Rain, and MAG are all out...

Still to come is ModNation Racers, Killzone 3, Resistance 3, MotorStorm 3, Yakuza 4 (hopefully), Yakuza 5 (very hopefully), The Last Guardian, Twisted Metal (hopefully), 3D Dot Heroes, inFamous 2, SOCOM 4, all the PS Move crap, Demon's Souls 2 (hopefully).

I bloody love my PS3 :(

That's like the fourth time I've heard people mistakenly call it Hard Rain :hehe:

I've said before that this has been my favorite gen for gaming, and a lot of that has been thanks to PS3 exclusives, especially when they fall right in the gap inbetween good 3rd party releases. Out of all of my years gaming, never have I had such a chain of eagerly anticipating title after title like I have for this one. It seems like recently there's always a game I really want to play on the horizon, where in previous gens I just picked up whatever sounded good at the time when I was in the store, and rented everything else.

The PS3 started off weak on exclusives, but the last 2 years and especially more recently it's been like you can't even finish one AAA game before the next drops. Some of these aren't exclusive, but the chain of Uncharted 2, Batman AA, Demon's Souls, Dragon's Age Origins dropping near the end of last year, and then shortly after Heavy Rain, Dragon's Age Awakenings, Final Fantasy XIII, and God of War 3 all dropping within a month of eachother was probably the best stretch of gaming I've ever had.

As for upcoming exclusives, there are several that look good. Resistance 3, a new Twisted Metal, inFAMOUS 2, Last Guardian, Starhawk, Valkyria Chronicles 3 (I really hope it comes out eventually, with 2 being the PSP game), Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy XIV, DC Universe Online, Demon's Souls 2 (like E UK, I hope), Mod Nation Racers (possible pick up), and possibly Gran Turismo 5 (I say possibly because even tho I loved previous GT's, I just suck at the controls anymore...the demo made that clear lol). I'd say Killzone 3, but honestly, I still haven't picked up 2 yet, but I do plan on getting it eventually. All of that's just what comes to mind tho, I'm sure something huge will be announced at E3, or Tokyo later on that will get me hyped.

It's odd to think tho that most of the main reasons I bought a PS3 in the first place have already dropped, and I'm still finding new stuff I want. Even odder to think that I'm enjoying some of the new IP's more than I did the carry overs from last gens.

Man Sony released it's heavy hitters early on in the year GOW III Heavy Rain MLB 10: The Show Yakuzza 3 MAG FFXIII. and Modnation Racers which i know will be successful. I wonder what the rest of the year has to offer i hope it just isn't Socom 4 and GT5 b/c that would be just too disappointing. And Sony shouldn't Expect the Move to be as "big" as they want it to be.
I hope they announce lots of games at this years E3!! DC Universe Online and the Agent are supposed to be out this year right? And we still are expecting Resistance 3 Killzone 3 and Infamous 2 Sony does have the best line up of games.

How would you all compare the PS3 exclusives to the 360's? Who has the better exclusive games recently?

How would you all compare the PS3 exclusives to the 360's? Who has the better exclusive games recently?

It depends on the types of games you like -- I'd give Sony the edge recently at least in terms of mainstream retail releases.

Xbox Live's XNA and Arcade sections have quite a few gems lately too.

Again, it really boils down to what you're looking for.

I agree that it's all in taste. To me personally, I just don't care for many of the 360's exclusives. Halo doesn't do anything for me, and Gears doesn't appeal to me. I'm not huge into racing so not sure what Forza offers that if I did decide I wanted a racer that GT 5, Motorstorm, or Wipeout HD couldn't offer instead. Fable I can pick up on PC if need be, but really am not very interested in it either. Left 4 Dead I was interested in, but after playing the demo for 2 on my PC, I really felt disappointed to be honest. After all the hype, I felt I could get the same experience with a Half Life 2 mod if I wanted.

I think the only 360 exclusives that would make me want a 360 are Mass Effect 1 & 2, and Alan Wake. Those look good, and I wouldn't mind playing them at some point. I'd say Splinter Cell, but honestly, I've never been into the Splinter Cell series and even if the new one is more cinematic, it's just not for me.

However I realize on the other hand that plenty of ppl feel that way about the PS3 line up. I've seen several comments still about ppl saying PS3 has no games (which is a ridiculous argument for the PS3, or 360), and then go on to dismiss games like Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, and Heavy Rain. I realize tho that those games just aren't for them.

well I think the PS3 definatly has a better exclusive lineup... but the 360 handles 3rd party releases better and has a MUCH better arcade/independent/online offering in games. Shadow Complex, Splosion man, Perfect Dark and numerous remakes and arcade classics that we neeeeed ps3 to have. the Ps1 ports are pathetic compared to what 360 is offering with new remastered games with achievements. I hope that will change with the upcoming premium PS3 network service.

For every exclusive the 360 has there is an alternative over at sony though. Often much better and more satisfying of a buy in the end. Not to mention Dead Rising(which was a 360 exclusive) is now going multiplatform with part 2.

With god of war, Heavy Rain, the Metal Gear franchise, the Uncharted games, Infamous and killzone... Little big planet. you cant go wrong. (also the ps3 exclusive games will never see the light of day on 360, unlike some 360 exclusives) Theres something for everyone on PS3, it has a wider range of games. Not to mention some recent heavy hitters being better on PS3, such as FF13 and Batman AA (with exclusive content) and Dragon Age(graphics) It looks like the PS3 could be stepping it up as far as 3rd party games go. Everything released recently has been pretty much on par with the 360's version. Dantes Inferno, Battlefield 2, Aliens vs Predator, etc...

The 360 on the other hand, most of their exclusives have basically shooting things in mind lol. Gears, Halo, Mass Effect and L4D arguably there biggest exclusives. Others such as Forza and Fable have can be countered with the likes of Gran Turismo and the Last Guardian. Exclusives like Crackdown can be countered with Infamous 1/2. The main 360 exclusives that ive loved over the years have been crackdown and Forza... they are fantastic games and Im anticipating crackdown 2 majorly. But they would not be system sellers to me, like Metal gear, God of War, or even Heavy Rain are. Ill give this Alan Wake a whirl though.

and lets not even get into Demons Souls. Pretty much the end all, Be all RPG haha...

Overall the PS3 exclusives are a wider range of games, more unique and original. not to mention the wonderful Blu ray cases and overall physical quality of the product your buying, ie inside artwork & blu ray disc. The 360 games with there recent "eco friendly" bull**** cases are just not a good value for the game collector or someone who likes to look at what they bought. 60+ dollars for an exclusive DVD game with a paper thin easily breakable eco friendly neon green case, or a sleek Blu ray, with unique artwork and hefty manual to show that extra care that goes into the product.

the 360 has an unmatched online gaming offering though. and at the moment id stick with the 360 for third party games and Online exclusives. But the PS3 defiantly is king with First Party and steadily improving with various games I didnt even mention.

I just bought my PS3 on Friday and I only got it so I could play PS3 exclusives. Right now I'm enjoying Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid 4. I look forward to getting to play Heavy Rain and the 2 Uncharted games.

How would you all compare the PS3 exclusives to the 360's? Who has the better exclusive games recently?

Recently, the PlayStation 3 by far. Sony Computer Entertainment actually won the AIAS Game of the Year (video gaming's equivalent to the Oscars and Emmys) two years in a row with LittleBigPlanet and Uncharted 2 something that for the most part has never been done (you can argue that Nintendo has done it as well, but technically no) and have been quoted in trying to do a three-peat again with God of War III.

However, I think that almost everyone can agree that when the PlayStation 3 launched, it was rather lacking in the exclusive category. The lack of exclusives even led to Screwattack's original Top 10 List of PS3 Exclusives looked like this:
10. Good Game Missing Here
9. There's Not a Game Here Either
8. Virtual Fighter 5 - "Wait wait, it's on the 360. It's not exclusive."
7. Riiiiiiiidge Racer 7
6. Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, it wasn't even a blu-ray exclusive, but it made the list anyways.
5. MotorStorm
4. God of....Heavenly Sword
3. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - First HAVE to buy game on the list
2. "Residence:" Fall of Man
1. Warhawk

And Microsoft did a good job in the exclusive category early so it's fair to say that while the PlayStation 3 recently has the been putting out the better exclusives, overall, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are pretty even when it comes to that department.

Yeah but the Screwattack guys are a bunch of *****, I remember seeing that back in the day. They made a list of 10 exclusives just as the console had been out for a year? What the frick do you expect? Of course it's not going to have 10 AAA exclusives in that amount of time.

Anyway, if anything PS3-exclusive was going to take the AIAS award next year, it'd be The Last Guardian I think. God of War 3's reception has been amazing, but not Uncharted 2 amazing.

MS poured most of their money into 3rd party developers for their exclusives (many of which eventually made their way to the PS3). Sony poured most of their money into their own studios. In the long run, I think the latter was the better thing to do. It may have took longer for those studios to push out games, but when they came out they were amazing and will remain on the PS3. Its allowed Sony to buy more studios and beef up their first party inventory

Plus Sony and MS treat their first party studios differently as well. They acquired one of the bigger developers from the n64 heyday in Rare....and did next to nothing with it. MS also owns the team who made Ages of Empire, one of the most popular RTS after Starcraft and Warcraft, made them make a Halo game, and then shut them down.

I think MS's courting of 3rd party developers helped early on when they started getting former Playstation exclusives on the 360, and even got exclusive content with games like GTA. However Sony's first party games are finally finished and coming out, and MS's former 3rd party deals are over leading to exclusives going to PS3 as well (Bioshock, Dead Rising, GTA 4 episodes, and so on).

I think in the end tho they came out even. No matter the state of 360 exclusives now, they have ingrained the idea into everyone that multiplat games are better on the 360, even if things are evening out on that front, (Bayonetta and most older games better on 360, games like FFXIII and Dragon Age better on PS3). This has allowed MS to become a much bigger player in the console market. Then on the Playstation side Sony has created several new Sony owned IP's this gen which will help them get steam back, and serve them to the PS4 and beyond.
