PSP GO! Confirmed, revealed, Pics & Video inside!

Well......errrr.......the only thing i like is the bigger screen, the rest.....it´s ugly.
The analogue is set in a weird place, the d-pad and bottons are way too big, like i said, it´s damn ugly.

Some specs from Neogaf:

3.8" screen
43% lighter than previous version
16 Gig memory
Bluetooth support
No UMD (Push for smaller, download only games)
Downloads games and movies

If you watch the video, LBP PSP is a go.
And the rumors also state that one of the games it will have a launch will be New Metal Gear Portable Ops (the Kojima project everyone is talking about).
Launch date is this fall

So, only one analogue stick (people wanted two) and positioned in a weird place, and no touch screen.....are Sony in the lose money business now, because i can tell you right now that it will be no competition for the DSi.

BTW, why release it before the E3?

It's no uglier than any other handheld out there as far as I'm concerned. Also, is this a new PSP as in a PSP 2, or is this just the newest revised model of the current PSP? I ask because this looks like just a flip version of the old model to me.

It's a new revision of the current PSP, personally I really like it, especially the 16 gig HDD and the smaller size of the unit, I'm SOLD!!!:D:up:

Alright, I read the article and it seemed like this was a PSP2 type deal, but it also said this and the current PSP-3000 model would co-exist. So I wasn't sure.

This to me sounds almost like an experiment with digital distribution. Will the games be the same, though, or is games for the PSP and PSP Go! going to be separate? I didn't see anything about it in the article

I definately like the look of it. It's a very slick looking device. I agree the thumb nub is in a weird place, though. Also, the design seems like it might awkward to hold and with the screen positioned so high it seems like it would be a little off balance.

It looks quite sexy IMO. But then again, so did the PSP.

Show us the games Sony. Or else I'll pass again.

Well, from that leaked info we know a LBP title, a MGS title and potentially a Jak title is apparently in production. That's not a bad start if you ask me.

Of course, I'll probably pass on it either way, but not a bad start

when are they gonna make an entirely new psp successor? re-releases are lame.

Jak and Daxter and Metal Gear Solid better be PSP Go exclusives or I'll probably end up passing on it, unlike my eventual purchase of the DSi.

Thats a horrible position for the nub. Its too close to the face buttons

...how exactly and you get PSP GO exclusives? :p

I don't think they'll make them exclusive to the PSP GO because it will alienate allot of people!!! Besides they don't really need to, the PSP GO is meant to be more of a compliment to the PSP 3000, both will be on retail shelves for people to choose weather they want an all digital unit or one that uses hard media, It's more about giving the consumer a choice than a replacement!!!:D:up:

I actually held my phaty PSP the way you would hold this new one and my left thumb fell around the area where the thumb stick would be if the screen was in the up position so I think it'll be just fine, but we'll have to wait and see, then again I have long skinny fingers lol!!!:o:oldrazz::D

If all those measures are true, then this thing is going to be really small with the possibility of floating away:

http://kotaku.com/5273302/portable-size+off-how-the-psp-go-measures-up

The new PSP Go, leaked just before E3 thanks to the June issue of Sony's own Qore, is tiny little thing. Bigger than an iPhone—but not by much—and slimmer than the original PSP.

When placed side-by-side against some of the current portable gaming competition, the PSP Go illustrates just how different it is from its peers and predecessor. The screen ratio looks similar to older PSP models, but is considerably smaller in size—3.8 inches versus the PSP-3000's diagonal size of 4.3 inches or 11% smaller.

On par with than Sony's other slide-out device, the Mylo 2, from which the PSP Go looks to have borrowed some of its design choices.

The PSP Go is also pretty efficient on overall hardware footprint. The LCD screen is 0.3 inches larger than the iPhone, but thanks to the slide-out controls, doesn't have nearly the same amount of extra plastic flanking each side.

The removal of some of the PSP's original buttons (display, sound, volume) go a long way to keeping the look more efficient than earlier models.

Versus the Nintendo DSi and DS Lite, however, we see just how much smaller the device is in its open position compared to its dual-screen competition. Screen-wise, the DSi and PSP Go are closer than ever, as the former got a quarter-inch boost over the DS Lite's screen, with the Go shaving off a half-inch.

Weight-wise, the PSP Go sounds pretty light—approximately 3.8 ounces, if the 43% lighter than the PSP-3000 figure (and our math) is accurate. That makes it lighter than the iPhone (4.7 ounces) and Nintendo DSi (7.5 ounces).

Keep in mind that these PSP Go figures aren't official, so things may be slightly off. But if you need to budget pocket space for the Fall, it might be handy.

There's pics in that link comparing the Go to the iPhone, PSP-3000 and DS Lite/DSi.

Thanks Teardrop, the smaller screen is a bit disappointing, I thought it was the same size as the old one but it's not that big a deal, still SOLD!!!:oldrazz::D:up:

Man, you're smoking something strong. :funny:

Oh, nonsense, I'm sure you can morph any of these handhelds into something stupid like that. I see no problem with the exterior design

I invite you to display such stupidity.

I wouldn't know myself, I personally don't care enough about doing stuff of that nature. I personally don't think it's any uglier than the DS/DS Lite/DSi/PSP-1/2/3000

Yea, well to me it looks pretty slick.

Doesn't look too bad to me. Now if they could actually get some good games for it, I might think about buying it someday. I hope the price isn't too high.

Sony to Offer New Digital Copies Of Your Old UMD Games

So what will happen to all of your old UMD games if you buy a PSP Go? You'll be able to procure digital copies of those discs, maybe even for free.

I asked Sony's John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for Sony, what the company planned to do for their most loyal fanbase—those who'd amassed a large collection of UMDs but who'd also like to play these games on the Go. His response:

We're in the midst of putting together a good will program. We'll be unveiling that soon [because] we actually think there's a significant group that will be upgrading from the 1000...In the past, we've seen a 20-25% trade-up factor, and I assume that's going to be the case here. We've modeled that. So we're looking at a good-will program—a short term good-will program that would continue for years afterward."

Short-term for years afterward? In other words, the program itself will last for years, but these digital game copies will be tied to either when you bought the UMD or the PSP Go—such specifics were not made clear.

Speaking more regarding the technical aspects of the good will program, Koller explained while the distribution model was still in the planning stages, the user's experience would be similar to Portable Copy—a way in which Blu-ray movies can be ripped and converted from the PS3 to the PSP. However, Koller assured me that users would not be ripping their UMDs. Instead, it sounds like Sony will use a PSN-based digital distribution model will "encourage" users to sign up for the service.

But the neatest thing about Koller's Portable Copy comparison? Portable Copy is free. So we're doubting that Sony will charge for the service—though we have no confirmation. Unfortunately, Koller also slipped in that Sony's "looking at what kind of games will be offered." In other words, Sony's good-will program will probably not apply to every title in the PSP's library, but given that there are only a few that matter anyway, maybe this limitation isn't such a big deal.
