Punisher 2 Update...(Marcum & Holloway rewriting it now!)

Lexi Alexander has closed a deal to direct Punisher 2 and apparently the studio wanted her but Tom Jane did not. When they couldn't close the deal with Dahl, they went back to her and made it work. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the guys who did the big rewrite on Iron Man, are doing an extensive rewrite on the script. They've become Marvel's go-to guys. At the end of the day, it's a crap shoot as far as who gets script credit. As far as i know they are still looking for Frank Castle and still determined to shoot next month before the lgf option runs dry.

No joke guys this is good info. I have a bit more even but I can't go there now. FYI I actually accidently ran into this person in SoCal today. Not physically. LOL

Well maybe this rewrite will bring him back. I doubt it though. If Hensleigh is gone...he's probably gone for sure. They were on the same page.

This is good and bad news, good job AD. The good is they have a good Director, they're fixing the flawed script and are on schedule to start filming soon. The bad is they're looking for a new Frank Castle. Hey Tom, come back man, do it for us fans (make the sequel work, don't quit). It looks like Lionsgate is finally getting off their ass, problem is it may be a little too late.

I say let him come back in the rewrite. Its not good when an actor risks his career by jumping ship and leaking info that could cost the studio money.

Wait, so they originally wanted John Dahl (and I'm assuming Thomas Jane did as well) and when they couldn't get him they got Lexi Alexander instead and so Jane quit? That's interesting to me because I really didn't like what I heard from Dahl regarding the little bit that he has talked about how he would approach the character...

Anyway, I just thought of something mildly amusing: If, by some miracle, Thomas Jane comes back to the project, we would have a female director who's last name is a guy's first first name (Alexander), and a male star who's last name is a girl's first name (Jane). Heh.

It sounded to me like they originally wanted Lexi. Remmeber Harry at AICN said that before Dahl backed out too. Then Jane didn't want her so they went after Dahl. Jane walked away, Dahl walked away...so LGF and Marvel said screw it and went back to Lexi. That's the impression I got.

Here's something that's been overlooked, isn't Tom Jane under contract for 3 pictures. I remember correctly, he signed a 3 picture deal. I guess that doesn't mean anything anymore.

Maybe thats why Jane backed out because since he's signed to 3, he knows LG is going to have to wait for him. He might be waiting for LG to send the rights back to Marvel. Yea, there looking for another Castle, but who's going to play a part with a sucky script who's a Punisher fan to play The Punisher? I think LG is going to wait a long time.

I really dont think LG are gonna be releasing it, there are too many holes in it, no lead, no script etc... contracts are gonna expire real soon with that set up.
If Jane doesn't come back I most likely wont buy it, and even think a fair few times about the effort and fairly certain waste of time it would be if I were to download it.
