Punisher War Journal's Been Delayed

I bet its due to adjustments in the main book. Just like how #4 was pushed to the end of the month.

Oh well.

I didn't even know it was due in September, so I don't really care

I find it's best to take a "it'll get here when it gets here" attitude. Worrying about such things isn't really productive, and there's always plenty of good stuff to read

True true, it's like over on the xbox.com boards. Everyone was *****ing about delays to the prey demo, then they rushed it out. And now all people can do is ***** about how it's not as good as they thought it'd be. Truth be told more frank in 616 is worth the wait! :D

Incidentally this is why I'm so peeved

So so pretty!

Id bet by left testicle thats why its so late. If you guys want rushed art, go for it.

I'm guessing it's from the blakc and white edition but don't know, love to see that in full colour though

is Joe Quesada writing or drawing the book? no

is Punisher War Journal tieing directly into the civil war mini such that it's important in ships in a particular month? no

Does DC actually have a worse track record than Marvel for late books? yes

Did Civil War set a modern sales record? yes

Do you have a freudian fascination with blaming everything wrong in the world on whoever is most visibly in control of Marvel at the time being? yes ;)

Bravo, Elijya.

The preview pages are so well done. I love the art and what looking forward to what Frank will be involved in. Now it's November i wait for...

I'm not angry, I'm just stupifiied, I mean we thought it couldn't get any worse than CW#4 being out 3 weeks after it's tie-ins
i really thought that was deliberate. nothing too important was given away so people are left guessing. i thought it was a good move. was it [cw4] supposed to come out earlier? the schedule on the previous books seemed to indicate it wasnt late...

Space Ghost didn't look rushed at all and it managed to come out on time. Marvel's just unable to organize properly, it seems.

Ok, the people responsible for facilitating Punisher War Journal's timely release are unable to organize properly. Is that good enough, or would you like me to track down specific names?

yes. names please or i call up elijya and tell him you've been mean to marvel:p

Yeah but they probably planned it months in advance. As you said, it was a failure of organization. Taht art doesnt seem like it takes 5 minutes.

Clearly. It just annoys me that so many people behind the scenes at Marvel don't have their s*** together enough to know when they can promise a finished product by, and the top dog at Marvel, Joe Q, has the mentality that it's all ok because we'll buy it anyway. He keeps throwing out excuses about how fans would be disappointed if the finished product weren't as polished as it could be without really addressing the problem. As you just noted, Phere, there are other ways to ensure that something comes out on time beyond rushing the creators. The erosion of respect for deadlines is a big pet peeve of mine in comics today.

Yeah and to be fair, its not just a Marvel thing. They shouldnt have announced the title until they knew the art was ready to go (assuming the issue is the art.)

Agreed wholeheartedly. Granted, Joe Q seems to have the professionalism of one of those bored hosts at OUTBACK with the cell-phone strap. "yeah, whatever, pay me. Zzzz..."

Man, Rhino is EVERYONE's b****. The art looks great, but who HASN'T beaten the Rhino at this point? He's like the megaton version of The Hand.

Yeah, he gets pwned pretty easily. On the other hand, it's nice to see the Punisher packing some crazy sci-fi weaponry again. Last time I remember him strapping on a freaky gun to fight actual super-villains was the early '90s.

I know, I moved out to comics in general by the end of my rant. That's why I said lateness is my pet peeve for "comics" rather than "Marvel." I wish the companies would make better use of fill-in artists, myself. I don't see a problem with one monthly series having two artists. Exiles is doing it now with Pelletier and Calafiore and She-Hulk was doing it before with Pelletier and Bobillo before Bobillo left, and they're both still great series.

Sci-fi? I thought it looked like a missle launcher. Oh, well. It looks like they may have Punisher fill the role of Scourge in WAR JOURNAL, which isn't bad.

Announcing a title with two artists would be a smart move. So smart that it would never happen. That is simply the way the world works. The answer to any problem that is the most simple and logical is always the last that is attempted. People are irrational, egotistical, immature, ignorant, and stubborn. Those that aren't are never in sufficient numbers or in sufficient power.

That said, both Marvel and DC have forgotten the 90's collapse far too quickly in that they take their audiences for granted with late books. Joe Q tries to explain with a "would you want to have a fill-in with lessor quality", therefore insulting fill-in people, and potentially cutting off the legs of potential stars. George Perez started as a fill-in on Avengers. Look what happened. Also, Joe Q insists on framing debates only on his terms. It would be like one of us telling him, "Would you rather sell a Top 10 book, or do justice to a character?"

Have you ever tuned in to see a scheduled new episode of a TV show and had a caption read, "Sorry, this episode will be 1-3 months late because the creators are awefully busy, please keep your wallets out until then"? Yet comic fans get this all the time. And the fact that an EIC has no ideas about the reality of the current market that he can't fathom that his OWN mini series would be horribly late is very distressing. I've seen Girl Scouts with a more honest idea of their business.

Lets not forget the rorating team on Captain America of Epting and Perkins.
