A small, yet interesting morsel of news came out way this past weekend as we learned that Charles Band is looking to remake his classic horror film, Puppetmaster, which was released back in 1989 by Full Moon Entertainment. All that is known at this time is that he's hoping to shoot it in 3-D. In the original, for no apparent reason, an aged puppetmaster carefully packs away the marionettes of his craft and shoots himself. Those who come to mourn, or defile, his passing little suspect the final performance that's been planned. The Beloved creations left behind have a little life in them and they're not playing for laughs. They may be small, but their appetite for murder is MONSTROUS! Who's pulling the strings?

Another "classic" being remade? Well at least this is a film that actually 'NEEDS' the remake treatment. The original was flawed on many levels from plot, story, acting, and effects. I love the PuppetMaster series, but for reasons due to that idea of little puppets being alive and killing for their crazed master. The puppets themselves were fantastic, but horribly presented effects wise. But you can't blame them for looking bad, the budget on that film was amazingly low and they really got as much out of the buck as they could.

Seeing that Charles Band is wanting this done tells you that he cares about this little feature called PuppetMaster and wants to see it done better and with more care than originaly crafted. Here's a little known cult classic that is in need of new blood and life, along with new strings and puppets.

Hopefully this thing gets going and we see PuppetMaster rise to the great potential it never recieved. AND IN 3-D NO LESS!!!!!!! COME ON, AWESOME!!!

i used to love Puppet Master, haha. i wouldn't mind seeing this as a remake, as long as they keep the same themes for the puppets. Pinhead (my fave), Blade, Leech Woman, Jester, and Tunneler...they should all be in there, maybe even Six Shooter. plus, it should be rated-R.

if they kept those elements then i'd definitely see this in theaters, ESPECIALLY if it's 3d.

damn double posts.

I saw this along time ago and agree that it needs a remake. Rather than their creator die metaphysically he should for real when he commits suicide, his purpose for creating them is because he is the only adult where he lives who doesn't look down on things like puppets. However they become sentient but without magic bringing them to life and they kill these elitist adults because they have a trivial grudge against the concept of puppets,to make things fresher, where the movie takes place it can be abscent of kids since all the adults there have no will or even desire to get kids of their own. Anywho,I thought I would suggest ideas for this remake,I can't think of anything better. I rather have no one you can root for and of course no kids to pop up to be the hero or heroine, and I certainly rather not have something cheesie to stop the puppets. I would just leave it at someone avoiding the perimiter they are in.

I'm with you. I think the smart move with this is to keep those Puppet's the same, and maybe throw in 6 Shooter and some new ones also, but definatly keep those original ones. Blade was my favorite though, followed by Jester (he was just so adorible..haha).

I think done in a 3D formate that realizes it's in 3D, it would look really good seeing those puppet's on screen. 3D would work great with PuppetMaster because of all the low angle shots used. The one thing I don't mind though, is the story/plot. It could be changed up a bit to make it more thrilling. The first PM plot was a bit dumb and mute. It wasn't until the sequals that the backstory of the Puppet's got involved that the movies actually started to make sense, that was at least until they added 'demons' from hell into the mix, and Corey Fieldman.

Could you please explain that to me, because I'm lost in all that. I dont' remember children ever being a part of the story. It was about him being attacked by Nazi's and being looked at a treator or spy who used puppets.

Ah...Now I see what' you're saying.

Ok,I know there weren't any kids in the original,I was just throwing out ideas for a different approach for this remake to play out.

EDIT: Oops,I didn't notice your most recent post.

I really liked the original Puppet master, and I have ot admit, I'm really excited for this.

Hmm,and when they are left alone in the movie for good, they could die because their existence no longer has purpose. But,I also rather not have it being obvious at all that before they are neglected. So yeah the city or town in the end can be lifeless after a handful of adults that are left are ones who also detest kids as a twist. This place can be a place no newcomers visit that no one else in the world cares for to go to at all. So yeah, the person without knowing how to survive takes a wild guess saving their lives by leaving the place forever. Desperation with a wild guess for the win. Lastly,I wouldn't have the reason for no kids in the town being because adults killed them. At this point this is as interesting I think this movie could be if my suggestions were used for the remake.

Their really pushing for stuff now.

I mean i like most of the remakes, but honestly do you need a remake of this?

Actually, yes. Why you ask? Because where other remakes are remade for the pure act of cashing "in" on things, this one needs remade because the original didn't live up to much and could have been done a lot better. There's an actual purpose here other then making it for the sake of 'remaking'.
