Sequels Pure & simple: Do you want Whedon as X4 director?

The only thing he has going for him is that he has a background in comics. That being said, I'm still unsure how I'd feel about him being involved in X4.

I wouldn't be opposed to him directing, because I think he has a good cinematic sense and he understands the characters.

Writing... I don't know. I'm iffy.

Don't like Buffy, didn't like Serenity, Astonishing is good but has too much Kitty-Buffy going on....

So, it's a no.

If you want intimate and moody get Singer back, if you want dark but more comicbooky get Burton, if you want bright and flashy get Ratner back, if you want epic get Jackson, if you want visually stunning at a stunningly low budget get Snyder.

I like the thriller style of Bourne Identity and Casino Royale, so their directors could be good too.
Yup no Whedon.....another director with a fresh take

I read today some quotes of an old interview to Whedon and he said that the perfect actress for Emma would be Charlize Theron.

Did you read it? Its curious because is one of the favourites of the boards. (mine too).

And he also said that if he had to do a new x-team, he'd use Storm surely, then Nightcrawler (for talk about religion), Iceman (because his powers), and also named Juggernaut and X-23.

Interesting.

The already introduced x-men in the trilogy include all of Astonishing x-men members, more these characters he named, Storm, Kurt, Bobby and Juggernaut. And he likes Emma, so he probably would use her in X4.

He likes the characters, and has a well recieved x-men comic, and is director too. Why not making him the director of X4? Surely Fox will call him when they decide to do X4, and probably he will say yes, if has time to do it, so we only have to wait 1-2 years to start hearing news about it.

HE SAID STORM SURELY!?!?! Then whedon!

But i definitely DO NOT want Singer, omg his directing style is so flamboyant, sooo sentimental and not even in the right way like ratners was. I actually cried watching X3, when the prof died and storm and logan were crying...I love Ratners directing, it was so powerful and emotional at the same time, im not saying whedon for sure because i never got into buffy or liked the show so i fear i might not like him again so for me its sticking to my favorite movie/director and thats ratner. But if Whedon said storm for sure im already starting to like him lol ;)

Singer developed characters
ratner didnt, the ending to X3 needed to run smoother. the phoenix plot was not developed enough.
Whedon would show what the characters represented. but id much prefer if he had started from X1. theyd be so many different directions throughout the films.
so i say bring singer back

I think Whedon would do a great job. As long as we get a director better than Brett Ratner and Bryan Singer, I'll be happy. I don't think Singer was bad just that each new X-men film should top the previous one.

I would love to see Joss take on X4, Firefly and Serenity are amazing pieces of work that have so much depth and re-watchability value, which is something X3 seriously lacked.

BUT, it will never happen.

I'd say no to Whedon. Almost all of his stuff comes off with the exact same feel, and I don't want that to carry over into the X-verse.

That, and he'd have Kitty chew up the scenery.

Joss would turn the X-Men into a farce, full of witty one-liners and sarcasm. Completely wrong tone for this franchise.

I think Joss should completely take over the Fantastic Four franchise instead, both as writer and director. I think that tone is a perfect match for his strengths.

HECK NO!

I thought the direction and writing in Serenity was flat out bad. Almost....tv show like!!!

joss would be a perfect fit, people who are familiar with his work would prob agree :yay::yay::yay:

Singer developed characters
ratner didnt
Singer is horrible at developing characters...Ratner just followed his lead in that department. Sabretooth was a growling walking coat, and Cyclopse never felt like a leader and Storm was a useless sack of bones.

Rogue and Wolverine in X-Men are better developed than anyone in The Last Stand. Their development in that movie is probably better than anyone else's in the entire trilogy.

That's totally true.

Just watching their first scenes, and the Alkali one, all anyway, are really good. That's good quality and drama, not like X3.

Peter Jackson or similar. Someone with vision who is a fan and really understands the X-books.

Wachowskis?..........................

53 users want Whedon involved in X4 in one way or another.... nice to see it.

*cough* Serenity *cough*

Thank you.

So many people are blinded by Whedon's success on one or two projects... and assume he'll be a gift from the Gods if they did X4. I don't see it.

I was saying he did good on Serenity. And Serenity was a movie.

I think he's a big enough of a fanboy not to piss all over the material like some have (Singer less than Ratner and Rothman). So they may as well try it out with him. He did great on Astonishing.

Blah.

If you want a fanboy designed movie, then we're just never going to agree.

It's Hollywood. They can't just make mirror images of the comics. They need to adapt it, and people just don't accept that sometimes. I mean, the X-Films weren't gold, but I thought they did a decent enough job. There were some things they could have tweaked... But I think they definitely could have been a lot worse, too.

You're not reading me right.

I never said I want a fanboy made movie that is the comic on screen ala Sin City. I said he's enough of a fanboy... he isn't going to adapt it by ruining it.

It's not going to be the Wolverine show... Rogue isn't going to give up her powers... Jean Grey and Logan is not the true 'love story'.
