Pyramid Of Guitarists

Well at least give it a try, if your open minded about it, then you might be surprised!

Yeah, I probably will. "JLAW" is my favorite Dylan song along with "Hurricane", so that's why I'm a bit narrow minded.

fair enuff, jus don't let it spoil your experience of havens. Personally, Dylan isn;t my fav songwriter. I thinkt he best singer/song writer is Loudon Wainwright III, are you familiar with him?

No. He sounds like a classic composer.

I myself am at odds at whether I like Dylan or Lennon better.

Bob Dylan is the musician who's had the biggest impact on my musical life. For some reason each one of his songs speak to me, because it seems that I've experienced in someway, everything his songs talk about. Bob Dylan is very similar to me. He was an outsider in a suburban/rural town and he worked himself to be a superstar, by just being good at his craft. If I do make it big, that's the way I want to do it. I have based all of my emotions around Mr. Dylan. Everytime, I'm feeling a different thing, I'll go to one of his songs and they seem to brighten my day a bit. It may sound cheesy, but it's true.

Dylan is in a class of his own. Beautiful post.

He's gneraly an acoustic singer/songwriter. Probably one of the bigest in america at the moment. Not very mainstream as such, but in the acoustic and folk community, he's HUGE! He does very humourous songs, along with the most moving songs i've ever heard, fantastic voice and amazing lyrics, all very personal, truly inspirational, check him out! I saw him live and own all his albums.

He's the father of rufus and martha wainwright if that means anything?

I'll check him out.

not familiar with him, sowwy:(

How about richard thompson? He got the greatest contribution to folk music award recently. (by folk it's not morris dancers, basically it's just acoustic) He's one of the greatest guitar players ever alos, it sounds like 2-3 guitars when he plays, but it's just the one, he holds a base line, rythm and lead tune at the same time!

You're not familliar with Cave? GET INTO HIM NOW.

I in turn am not familliar with Thompson. I'm not familliar with more underground artists.

I really dig Murder Ballads and The Boatman's Call. I actually had the band that played at my wedding reception play Into My Arms, although I would have rathered People Aint No Good.:oldrazz:

Acoustic, eh? Check out Peppino D'Agostino. He will own your soul with an acoustic guitar.

I only have the The Best Of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. My favorite song by them is probably "From Her To Eternity".

Tony Iommi... enough said... there isn;t one riff that he didn't already play... if you play the electric guitar... you are basically copying from this guy because he's done it all....

Some guys like Albert Collins, Albert King, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly and many others would probably disagree. He's been a huge influence, no doubt, but to say he's the godfather of the electric guitar is a bit off.

Ummm....you're getting input from actual guitarists. Iommi was a big influence on HEAVY METAL guitarists, and that's IT! And all he did was steal riffs from guys like Howlin' Wolf, downtune and distort them, and play them loud.

Dude, I saw that too.
He was the pioneer of METAL, not GUITAR. :o

I've been a musician for about 30 years. All you're doing is parroting some crap you saw on VH1.
