This same thread is posted over at bluetights.net, just wanted to see what you all think...

As guages, I'm using "Superman: The Movie", "Spiderman 2", "Batman Begins", and "X2: X-Men United" as templates to measure the quality of storytelling (since these four films seem to represent the "best of the best" in the genre) Superman Returns fans are looking for; and out of the four films listed, which film does Superman Returns have to meet or exceed in terms of story quality, for the film to be considered a success?

And why?

Spider-Man 2 shouldn't be on that list.

Action-wise, Matrix Revolutions.

Story-wise, STM

It must exceed Spider-Man 2's quality, or I won't like it.

chuckles...

I went with Batman Begins. The film has an excellent story going for it, that seems to get better with every viewing. I think SR has to surpass the magnificent storytelling of BB...I think it will.

No, they don´t.
The only one of those, that reall deserves the "best of the best" logo, IMO, is X2.

seeing as how spider-man and supes are similar.......then spiderman.

EXEED

Character driven storytelling is where Singer obviously PWNS.

It was what was missing in X3......and what Superman will probably have in excess.

It's going to be pretty hard to exceed Spider-man(the first one).

I really hope there shooting for Batman Begins level at the very least......the best comic book movie ever.

Best superhero movies:
1. Spider-man
2. X-3
3. Superman2
4.Batman Forever
5. Superman

Ok, well because you put Batman Forever up there along with X-3, Ive come to a couple conclusions. Your either about 10 years old, or you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Either is fine. Just don't try to debate me.

P.S. Don't worry, I liked Batman Forever when it came out and I was in 2nd grade as well.

Im just going to say this to you once, with that stupid little kid and all in your disply image.

Find me a better..
1)Story
2)Cast
3)Director
4)Approach to the material

And even if you do, you won't be able to beat those 4 elements. And if in your mind you do, then go ahead and believe it, because you can't be helped.

Hey you can think what you want to about me, but the fact is you think Batman Begins is the best superhero movie ever.....so you are either really bored and want to see how we would react to you saying such a thing or (the more likely of the two) you need to put down the crack pipe.

watch it venom remember the conversation you and i had yesterday.

well i dont think batman begins is the best. But its up there

Ahh your throwing a crack head comeback at me because I think Batman Begins is the best comic book hero movie ever. Alright, well you must be, what, 10-14. I certainly hope your not the class of 2006, it would be awful to know that this years graduating class has such a tard in it. They say, the country is getting dumber.

And when watching X3, I couldn't help but think that was what Superman would have looked like, only sleeker, with Michael Bay. **** goes kaboom.

What do you mean? A better batman movie? That'd be batman 89 in my mind. And I've seen better superhero movies too that:

1. Better edited and shot.
2. Better acted.
3. Better directed
4. Are more fun.
5. Have conclusion that doesn't involve "Can you drive stick?" as a oneliner.

Bring it on. Let's get nuts, venom.

More fun huh. You obviously missed the point that Batman Begins was a more realistic, naturalized movie than say, Spider-man. And no beef with spidey, I just prefer me Batman. And screw Tim Burton. And tell me, what movie was better acted, outside of Katie Holmes. Kirsten Dunst. Margot Kidder. TELL ME.

no way is it going to exceed Batman begins storyline IMO this movie looks lame
