When Annihilation: Conquest "Quasar" comes out, Phyla and Moondragon are to be the title's main characters. Phylla will become the new Quasar, using the powerful quantam bands. Will that make them the first lesbian coupled superheroines to get their own title? I don't mean just lesbians, but lesbian superheroines. They have superpowers and they're the good guys. Mystique didn't have a girlfriend in her comic. I read that Black Cat is bisexual in an alternative future, so I don't think her mini-series counts.

Well, Karolina and Xavin could arguably be considered a lesbian couple, but they're part of a larger ensemble in Runaways. Sunfire of the Exiles was a lesbian, but again, part of a larger cast and also not part of any permanent couple throughout her tenure on the series. So yeah, it looks like Phyla and Moondragon may be the first lesbian couple to star in a superhero comic. Go them.

Yeah, but Rawhide Kid is Marvel's first gay man to get his own comic. I'm asking if Quasar is the first lesbian superheroine to get top billing and get her name in the title.

Wait, Runaways has a lesbian tean couple, and the Young Avengers has a gay, boy couple? Geez, these modern changes spread quick. Before you needed at least one straight arrow, a big muscle guy, one hot chick, a clown, and a dangerous loner.

If only I found the character interesting, I would actually read this comic.:csad:

Her name wasnt in the title, but Darkhold's Vikki Montessi was that book's lead character, and she was a lesbian....her lover was killed in the first issue, iirc....

Common misconception, but Sue Storm was the first major Marvel lesbian.

Wow, I didn't know Victoria Montessi was a lesbian. I always wanted to read the Darkhold Redeemers series.

I highly recommend the first several issues...especdially if you like Dr. Strange. He gets into a really cool wizard's duel with Modred...

That is a good one. But that's a horror comic, where the gay lover is dispatched quickly in the first issue. Also, Vikki became a vampire. A lesbian vampire - sounds like a cliché.

vampires arn't gay or lesbian... there just overly sexual...

I didn't mean that. I meant the lesbian vampire is a cliché. "Dracula's Daughter", "Daughters of Darkness", "Vampyres", "The Hunger", etc. I think killing the lover is lesser one.

When did she become a vampire?

Wait is Mystique a lesbian or bi, since when was this official?

Bi, one of her female lovers who was originally suppose to be Rogue's mother was Destiny and Mystique with her shape shifting powers was suppose to be the father. Of course that was canned, but they still had a relationship.

I wish I'd gotten into a lot of the supernatural stuff back then, actually. I just didn't have the money for it. I would've liked to read more of the Ketch/Kale Ghost Rider. I much prefer that version to the Johnny Blaze version. Plus, I think Ron Garney was penciling some of those supernatural '90s comics, too. I'm always up for more of Garney's work.

Yeah, I grew up in the Danny Ketch era, too. The last page of Busiek's Marvels pretty much cemented Ketch as THE Ghost Rider for me, even though I know there's a LOT of people that disagree.

I just liked the tone of the Ketch GR more. He was steeped in a lot more horror and supernatural elements. The Blaze GR was basically just another high-flyin', super-fun superhero, despite the fact that his face was a flaming skull and he was literally possessed by a demon. It just didn't fit. Apparently most modern audiences and writers agree with me, too, since Mackie, Ennis, and Way have all given Blaze a heavier horror/supernatural aspect and the movie was panned for being too goofy.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Does anybody else find humor in the fact that a gay comic character is called the "Rawhide" Kid?

:woot:
