I have a standard DVD player on my laptop and don't own a DVD player other than that. I've heard about Blu-Ray discs only as far as it offers a clearer picture.

My question is, is there a program or disc I need to buy to download the technology to play Blu-Ray discs? Or do you need a player specifically for Blu-Ray discs? I looked here but it doesn't answer my question.

Also, if I do need a player specifically, is it worth the cost? In other words, what's the big deal?

You will need a blu ray player on your laptop

just buy a Ps3 :p

for the money, the PS3 is really the best Blu Ray player to get.

you may not be into games, I'm not either as much, but with the PS3 Network you can also buy/rent movies, shows, etc and the harddrive can store these for you.

My current DVD is built in. Can the Ps3 be plugged into the laptop. Other players I looked at were separate units.

i dunno if the PS3 can be plugged into a laptop. I've never tried. I have mine hooked up to my tv but someone else can probably answer that for you

I did read a review of the PS3 Here

I think for me, if and when I choose a player, I would pick a standard player over the PS3. I wouldnt like all the control features of the PS3. The one Kane provided a link to is very reasonably priced, compared to some I've looked at. For what I would want, that's a pretty good deal.

Thanks everybody!

all i can tell you to have your player updated, and you know that you need to take out your old dvd drive and replaced it with the bluray drive
