During the scene where Constantine tried to open the Gates of Heaven with his forearms, what did the symbols on his forearm mean?

Apparently, they're the symbol of the Red King.

Absotlutely 100% percent right, Batman.

EDIT: I read something on IMDB, before, gimme a sec...

Here we go. :D

From: imdb.com

The tattoo on Constantine's arms is the alchemical symbol of the Red King, which was worn (by him) for protection. It is "the fire triangle with three radiating arrows below represents the 'Perfect Red King,' the Sulfur of the Philosophers."

He wasn't trying to open the Gates of Heaven, though--apparently the angel was keeping himself hidden using his power, so John used the symbol and the incantation to override it to reveal himself, to "enter the light."

Has there been any talk of a Constantine 2 at all, i thought the first movie was surprisingly good.

:cwink: I've been looking for confirmation about Constantine 2 since forever :csad:
As far as i know , Keanu , Francis and Djimon have all said that they would love to make another Constantine movie.
But it's all up to the producers and WB. They were working out some finances' for the first movie

Theatrically it did quite good IMO .For a movie that cost up to 100 million , i think it did break even just one the threatrical income.
Dvd sales are of constantine are doing rather well.

Constatine captured top spot on the home market taking first place on the DVD rentals, ($9.23 million); VHS rentals, ($930,000); and DVD sales, (no numbers announced.) And while the film's combined rentals of $10.17 million was a strong performance, the rest of the top five weren't so lucky.

The only new release in the top five was Because of Winn-Dixie, which actually led the VHS rental charts with $640,000, however, its DVD rental numbers were significantly weaker, relatively speaking, at $3.02 million for a $3.65 million running tally. While Guess Who held up amazingly well, Alexander was no so lick with a 49% drop-off landing at just $3.59 million for the week and $10.73 million so far. On the other hand, Million Dollar Baby dropped just 18% to $3.37 million rising back into the top five in the process. Lastly we have Constatine with $3.34 million during the week and $25.59 during its run so far.

And many of the reviewers , who didn't know jack about who John Constantine was nor had read any of the comics / graphic novels , liked the movie alot.
Also alot of people i spoke to loved to see another sequel . None of them have read any of the GN's . SO i think the movie did make a strong impact despite it's R rating.

I think WB will just wait till it's made some substantial $$$ with the dvd sales and tv income before a sequel is released.
Much like how it took some time for the blade sequel to come and for the HellBoy sequel to be released.
All with come eventually.

Reeves as to do a better job at being a smartass also. Every once in awhile it sounded really fake. I know he isnt the best actor in the world but he can play blue-collar rather well. He just has to be blue-collar. And he has to start smoking again, none of this nicotine gum crap.

I hope a sequel does get made, this movie has a real cool visual style that is a lot like a comic book. It may not be veyr faithful, but they do have a good first movie on their hands IMO.
