Why didn't Zod just LOOK at the family he was wanting to roast? I mean, sure your head is held still but your eyes where the heat vision is generated from are still able to move around in your sockets...why not just look at the family and WHAMMO...objective complete.

Looks like Heat Vision takes up your entire eye rather than iris/pupil.

Yep, but still, if you move your eyes and not your head what would you guess happens...that the actual blast is a conduit through the sockets themselves and not the eyes?

That would explain it.

Because that wouldnt have been near as dramatic.

It seemed as if you need to move your head with it as made evident a few times in the battle.

I think the real reason though is because [BLACKOUT]it's a movie[/BLACKOUT]

i think Zod wanted to die as well.
He basically was pushing Clark into killing him.
It was a "suicide by cop" scenario.

He couldve simply blasted those civilians right away if he wanted to, but he was slowly doing it. To tempt Clark into finally killing him.

It follows the internal logic of the film, at which all heat vision seems to require one to turn one's head to change its direction.

It also leaves them weak for a few moments when the effect subsides, sort of like a recovery hang-time because it's like a channeling of all that good ol' yellow sun goodness blasting out of 'em in one concentrated shot.

That's the point he could have but he wanted Kal to kill him, he probably wasn't genetically able to commit suicide so the only way to do that was to get Kal to kill him.

Yeah, I'm thinking he wanted an 'honorable" death.

That was actually how I felt seeing it the first time, and Snyder basically confirms that's exactly what it was.

Zod sort of becomes Agent Smith at the end of Matrix Revolutions, he no longer has a purpose so he no longer can exist. But he's incapable of killing himself for whatever reason, so it's a suicide for all intents and purposes.

Exactly  genetically that would have been the only death he was capable of and the only way he could commit "suicide"

Do you want an empty life or a meaningful death? :woot::woot:

Yeah. He wanted to die. Plus heat vision is probably so demanding on the eye that using the same muscles to create radiation while moving the eye would be too much, hence the moment in which he turns his head around while destroying the computers.

Why didn't Faora and co kill Martha for Kal insolence when he attacked Zod? Why didn't Kal fly up with Zod during the heat vision scene?............

^ 1. He can't be everywhere at once, and perhaps they were concerned for their leader and looked around for him. 2. The ending was an epiphany, kill or let Zod escape to murder more. If he flew up, Zod could escape and cause more carnage. Besides, if his arm was around his neck gripping tightly, he might accidentally pull Zod's head off when flying up due to the speed, which would NOT be PG-13 ;)

Yeah maybe that too

his head was at an angle from them, we mostly saw him with the angle front and center of his face, but when they switch to show Superman holding him and the family in the shot Zod's head is tilted away from them, and there is only so far your eyes alone can turn lol

Yeah I don't think it follows the trajectory of your vision, just straight out from the sockets themselves.

If Supes heat vision is the only thing that can shave his beard, how does he do that then if his heat ray isn't guided by his sight?

Theoretically, if the vision takes up the whole eye, you probably have to "lock" your eye in place. Otherwise you'd be shooting heat vision through your own face.

I can believe this, can you imagine how many times Kryptonians might have cut their own nose while using heat vision if it was just the iris moving lol
