Would anyone here have any info on what monitor is best for digital artwork?
I am just starting out and am having a hard time telling propaganda and slander from all the monitor reviews on the web.

It would be cool to hear some non biased info.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the link black_dust.
Is this a monitor you use?
This is full screen right? Are there any advantages with full screen over wide-screen?

If you can swing it, a duel monitor set up is pretty nice as long as your system supports it. One monitor can have the program your using with any reference or a second program displayed on the other.

Looks pretty fun but way out of my wallets league.

I eventually want to run a duel set up. But for now i'm looking for a larger screen monitor 500 or lower. My problem is I don't know what specs I should be looking for. I don't know much about monitors. So and its hard to research them on the web when you don't know what to look for.

Thing is, you could have the best monitor in the world with like 50k : 1 Contrast ratio and all that, but as soon as you view it on someone else monitor it might look completely different if they don't have it set up right!

I would just suggest getting the best one you can afford and go from there, its not the monitor that will make kick ass graphics you will!

Dude your avi scares me.

Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know what specs I should look for. Ive read that anything over 600:1 ratio isnt needed. Then I see some that are 40000:1
I've also read several opposing toughts on image aspect ratios.

And I have heard there are Monitors that have that self calibrate. Is it better to have additional software for that?

A great UT for calibration is Spyder 2

As far as monitor size and dual monitors go you need to consider the peripheral sizes(like wacom tablets)A 4x6 is good for a 17' ,19' monitor.(The bigger the tablet the bigger the monitor or monitors.

Heres a link to the Anandtech forums with in depth discussion on LCD monitor recommendations.

Wow there is alot of feedback in that forum. Thanks very much for the links.:woot: Much appreciated!
So far from reading it seems many people use that spyder program.
