In GIMP, using the "paths" tool, how do you take the selection you have created from one image and transfer it to another? For example, cutting around a ball with the "paths" tool in one image and placing the ball in another image. Thanks for any help you could offer.

I have GIMP. But, I'm really bad at it and I have no idea what you are talking about with the Ball and Paths and stuff. I hoped for an answer too.

I use GIMP all the time, not bad with it. I keep it simple. Cut, paste.

Open the 2nd image as a new layer. Place the new layer underneath the layer of the ball that was cut out.

So how exactly do you cut an object out in one image and paste it in another?

Open both images in different windows. Select the area you want to cut using whichever tool, go to edit, then cut or you can go to image and crop to selection, go to the next image, paste, resize layer if needed before anchoring it.

I have a mate who's techy, and he's tried to help me make some avies in the past by being all clever and it hasn't worked. Then I try it myself using the simple method and have had some excellent results. Sometimes the easy way is the right way. ;)

Do I have to add layers to anything? Also, what tool works best?
