My cellphone HTC Hero comes with a 2GB microSD card, and I decided to buy a 8GB microSD card because I wanted to download alot of things. Well, I got the microSD card I ordered last night, and promptly made the switch. However, I discovered that I lost the pictures, wallpapers, and songs that were already in the cellphone (HTC put them there). I'm trying to figure out how to transfer the contents from my old microSD card to the new one, and I wonder if you guys have any ideas how to. Also, when I checked the memory on my cellphone, it only displays the internal memory and not the microSD card (124 MB). I know that I have installed it successfully because I followed the instruction closely, but I wonder why it doesn't show up in its memory bank.

Double post.

I just got a Hero as well.

First put you old SD card back in your phone and hook it up to your PC. Remove the pictures and video folders and put them on your PC. Disconnect you phone and then you need to go to settings-> SD Card-> then unmount SD card. Switch the SD cards out with the new one. Hook you phone back up to you PC and place the folders you took out from the old card onto the new one. Hope this helps.

Thanks alot for your help! It's hard to Google this question and your answer is direct and helpful. Btw, is it possible to delete the wallpapers you download to your Hero? I can delete the pictures I took from the archive, but I can't do it to the wallpapers I got from various websites.

Your welcome.:woot:

You can access everything on your PC when you connect your phone to it. Or you can just gor to Programs on your phone then Albums. Wallpapers are listed there and you can delete them.

On the topic of the Hero, there is an app that is very improtant to have to help your battery life (if you don't already have it that is). It's called Advanced Task Killer. It's free and it allows you to stop programs that you are not using with just one click. If you didn't know, when you back out of a program (browser for example), it doesn't actually close. It hangs in the background and soaks up battery. I use this app all the time and battery lasts all day and longer on a charge.

Wow, I didn't know that. Maybe this is why I have to recharge my phone every 3 days or so. I haven't download any apps because I wanted to wait until I get my microSD, and now that I got it I'm going to look into all the apps and see which one is worth getting. Since I also have an iPod Touch I'm a bit disappointed with Android's app market so far, but I hope it will pick up eventually.

Unfortunately, apps only save to your internal memory and not your SD card. There are ways to work around that with custom roms and rooting your phone. I don't think I can post the info on it here, but you can find ways to do it via google.

The marketplace is lacking right now, but it is growing every day. It may never match Apple's setup though.

FYI Android 2.1 should be released for the Hero in March.

Really? So the microSD card only stores pictures and music? That's rather lame imo. I guess I won't be going hog-crazy with the apps that I want to download, then.
