Quick question about PSN internet connection

So....i don´t have a PS3, but i´m on the verge of getting one.
Before i do, i just want to know, is the PSN internet connection as slow as i´ve been reading?

I have a PSP for 1 year now.
The only game i bought from the PSN store was FFVII, and it was a horrible experience.
It took me more or less 1 hour to download it, and more or less 1 hour to install.
The size i believe is 1Gb, give or take a few.
I tought something was wrong, but it downloaded fine (only slow as hell) so i didn´t tough much about it afterwards.
Now, i´ve been reading that people take usually 1 hour to download 1Gb demo from the PSN.
Is that true?
Because my connection is fine, it´s 50Mb.
The biggest downloadable game on XBLA is Lara Croft (2Gb) and it took me between 15/20 minutes to download the trial version back when it was released.
To be honest, i download everything from the 360 extremely fast.
Not only from the 360, but Steam too.

So, is it true?

I've seen people say the same things, but honestly, I really don't see any significance between downloading things for my PS3 from downloading things from my 360. I don't know if maybe my connection is just that awesome or what, but I've never experienced the online slow time some here apparently have.

Theres a 360 & a PS3 in my house, the PS3 downloads various demos etc quicker than the 360.

The PS3 is slower in my house. My 360 downloads games and updates very quickly while downloading these to my PS3 takes an uncomfortable amount of time. I never download demos onto my PS3 because of how long it takes.

The PSN is not built as strong as XBL is. It's not grossly worse or anything, but there is a noticeable difference.

This. Even smaller games like Braid take significantly longer on my PS3 than on my 360.

I DL'd the Tomber Raider demo on my PS3 the other day and it didn't take more than 20 minutes. My PS3 downloads at a fine rate.
