Did they kill him off after only one movie due to the fact Fox owns the character too and Marvel were only allowed to use him once?

No.

Both companies can use him.

That's Scarlet Witch in Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Yes, Singer said it was "just his younger sister..." but come on, we can read between the lines.

Wasn't there supposed to be a deleted scene where his mom says "go get your sister" or something (while the other girl is in the room with him) indicating that he has two sisters?

If it were actually the case that they killed Quicksilver off, because they couldn't use him for more than one Movie, they would have killed Wanda off as well.

They killed him off because Marvel's version of the character sucks. :oldrazz:

They killed him because they wanted a big death and of the available properties, he was the only real viable choice. Before the movie came out I'd called him as the death, and here's why: 5 of the 6 founding Avengers were off limits and confirmed to survive via appearances in future films (Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow and Hawkeye in Civil War, Thor in Ragnarok), as was Falcon, so that basically just leaves the Hulk, the new heroes, the sidekicks and the support characters.

They weren't gonna kill the Hulk because he's too popular and iconic. They weren't gonna kill Nick Fury because they just did that last year. They weren't gonna kill Maria Hill because she's the big tie between the SHIELD TV show and the movies. They weren't gonna kill War Machine because he serves as the replacement Iron Man-like character in the new roster and chances are with the diversity complaints about the MCU, they wouldn't want the bad publicity over killing one of their few non-white superheroes. So then you have Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Quicksilver. Scarlet Witch is safe for the same reason as War Machine; there've been so many complaints about the lack of female superheroes and the market is now swinging in the other direction, so no way was Whedon gonna kill Wanda or Natasha. You have Vision who is now key to the overall Infinity Stones plot and can't really "die" anyway since he can be rebuilt so his death would be meaningless.

That pretty much just leaves Quicksilver. And for bonus points, his death was one few people saw coming because everyone was convinced that given the franchise nature of the MCU, surely they wouldn't kill off a brand new Avenger after just one movie! So there's the added surprise aspect as well.

I hope he'll make a return when the Infinity War starts. Would be fun to see Thanos raising the dead as his personal army.

As desperate as I may sound, I really want QS to make a return in IW.

I can't see SW and QS apart.

I wouldn´t say he completely sucked, they just did not develop im well enough. So we just don´t get to see much of his character. But if they would put more effort in it, he could be a great character. Some things also were good like his look and accent. Both the actors made a nice pair of the Maximoff twins lookwise, now they just need a chance to fill those shells with true character.

And SkyIsBlue: Agreed! I also do not want to see the twins apart, but as a team! Can´t bear to see Wanda on the screen alone!

Yes, there was supposed to be a scene like that, where the mom says to the little girl "go bug your sister". Pitty that they cut it.
That little girl is just a little girl, not Wanda in young, nor Lorna.

Yea officially they can both use the character, but I can't help but think there is an unofficial gentlemens agreement between Fox and Marvel that states that they won't use the characters ongoing so the different versions don't clash. I would not be surprised if we never see Scarlet Witches version in Fox now we have an ongoing version in Marvel.

Trust me, there's nothing gentlemanly about the relationship between Marvel and Fox right now. And Marvel was pissed that Fox used Quicksilver. I'm very skeptical that Marvel would kill off Quicksilver just to accommodate them after that.

It's not just for them though. It's for the better for both universes. Having 2 quicksilvers running around is far from ideal and would just hurt both in the long run.

Not really to accommodate, but more to make the best of a bad situation. Marvel get there monies worth by using QS in the movie. Then they also get the drama of a character death without sacrificing any of the other fan favorite core characters. I'm sure if he Marvel desperately needed QS creatively then they would have kept him, but they didn't.

Yea exactly. Same reason I don't see Fox using Scarlet Witch in X-men. I could be wrong, but I don't think they desperately need SW so they wouldn't shoe horn her in just to spite Marvel.

This sounds about right.

I'll take him over FOX's annoying speedy brat any damn day of the week. The Marvel one is a character. The FOX one is a plot device(and as it turns out, a completely unnecessary one at that since freeing Magneto did nothing but make their jobs harder and their goals more difficult to attain...what a useless 'add on' to the movie).

I do wish that they had deaths with more resonance. Not to mention I would have loved to see Quicksilver stick around.
Especially for any future romance between Wanda and Vision, lol.

Oh yes, jealous, protective Pietro would be cool, would make for some interessting interaction between the twins and Vision.
I really want to see that!

I don't understand why any of them had to "die" per say. Since 5 people are leaving avengers, stark, hulk, banner, hawkeye and thor just kill one of them off

It was so pointless why bring him into the movie if your barley going to do anything with him he's one of,my favorite Avengers and I almost lost my mind when he died if they had to kill someone why not off Maria Hill it would give her character finally some important part to play in the film universe and maybe that's what sets off Civil war.

They killed him because Joss can't build stakes without killing characters. :whatever:

My only gripe with the movie.

Given Wanda's power set, and if you know some of the things she's been able to do in the comics, don't be surprised if she is used as a means of bringing QS back in future movies. Now he may not actually exist(much like her kids with Vision in the comics) but that doesn't mean he wouldn't still be around for the movies.

Yeah, Whedon admitted that he has to kill someone in the movie, so QS is it. He even used Hawkeye as the red herring to throw the fanboys off, since many of them convinced that Clint was the one who will bite the dust. I like Whedon, but I hate his obsession of killing characters in his movies just because he wanted it to feel "real". My biggest gripe about the movie.

It gave us a great Wanda scene though. Right now I actually don't mind that he's dead, Wanda will probably be in a more vulnerable place right now. Which might give us some interesting moments in future movies. And there's always a chance to bring him back later. We've got the Infinity Gauntlet and who knows how far they'll explore Wanda's powers. I firmly believe we haven't seen the last of Pietro.
