R.e.m. (1980-2011)

Kind of crazy, but they seemed to losing steam as it was. There's something dignified in just ending it rather than just taking a never ending victory lap and over staying their welcome.

I'm sad about the ending of R.E.M., but it does seemed like about their album Automatic For The People their albums steadily decline, and no longer has the same kind of creative energy they once had. At least they don't just keep going just to make a buck, but I have a feeling that R.E.M. will reunite somewhere down the road.

What? I thought they broke up at least 10 years ago... I mean last thing I remember hearing from them was "Shiny Slappy Peep-Holes"...

still pretty sad about this, but maybe it was for the best

Maybe. Stipe said they didn't really have anything left to do creatively. Collapse Into Now was good, though. At least they had a good final album.

Despite the bright points, I'm still bummed they broke up. They had a great career, and I never saw them live.

i'm kinda surprised they didn't film a HD farewell concert or something...
