Raimi 's Reasons for the Costume Changes

I'm somewhat disappointed that Raimi decided to not use a Goblin or Hobgoblin costume for Harry its almost like he copped out. I always felt he was not embarrassed by the costumes. But now that I think of it he has chosen villains that for the most part that don't wear masks or costumes.

harry doesn't need to wear the goblin costume if he's not the green goblin. harrys suit is an updated version of the goblin costume and sam did the right thing by making harry wear a different suit. it even makes more sense in harrys storyline.

He wants revenge for his death, but he has conflicted feelings towards killing Peter, so the costume is a reflection of that. On some level, he´s aware that what his father was doing was no good.

harry isn't out to do what his father did. harry doesn't have split personality, all harrys doing is hallucinating seeing his father in the mirror. if harry was going to wear anything that look like the original green goblin it wouldn't make sense for him trying to help peter wearing the goblin cloths. i just think that harrus suit fits better with him then the goblin costume or the goblin mask would but thats just my opinion.

all harry is seeing i the mirror is his father. he's not seeing himself in the mirror and his reflection is not talking to him so therefor he probably doesn't have a split personality. byt the way, i love harrys suit.

No, I doubt he'll ever change his costume in the film.

i really think harry won't wear the green goblin suit in the final battle......he probably has more than one spare of his suit.

I still have my doubts, specially with the whole alternate personality with Harry. Obviously they are not following the exact comic book story. This version could be more realistic, like he doesn't wear his father's costume because he reminds what he did ... who knows.

I think that Raimi, although he likes the Goblin, doesn't like the suit design. Or at least doesn't feel it works cinematically, thus the radical, more techno-oriented change. But again, I just don't get why he didn't go with that hyper-detailed design from Spidey 1. The suit would completely kick ass on screen. I suppose he also doesn't want Harry in a Goblin mask just because he wants Peter to see his face when he takes him down.

yeah, maybe harry doesn't want wear the green goblin suit because it makes him think about how evil his father was. harry really isn't out to do evil deeds, he just wants revenge on peter.

You know, by this point I've sort of adapted and adjusted to Harry's costume...

But I still stand by the opinion that while it's a cool costume design, it's simply NOT appropriately Goblin-ish. Ironically enough I think I probably wouldn't even mind the gas mask, if it just had the trademark purple hood over it or something... but of course that's not the case.

So far, Harry's the only Spider-Man villain yet whose costume missed the mark for me... but hey, one of five ain't so bad.

Regardless.. at least their calling him the "New Goblin" now. Obviously I would've preferred Green Goblin, but at least it's not something as flat out lame as "Night Surfer" --- if that had actually been his name in the movie, then I would've gone ballistic.
