Randall Park is Doctor Shin

The Aquaman movie is currently undergoing some additional photography ahead of it release later this year, and director James Wan has taken to Twitter to announce a new addition to the cast with Randall Park (The Interview, Veep, and Fresh Off the Boat) as Dr. Stephen Shin.

First introduced in Geoff Johns’ seminal run on Aquaman, Dr. Shin is a marine biologist and friend of Aquaman’s human father, leading to him even helping Aquaman learn to use his abilities as a young man. Of all the people that live on the surface, he knows the most about Atlantis and its inhabitants. Park is set to appear in a Marvel Studios film this year as well, playing Jimmy Woo in the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp

Definitely thought he deserved his own thread. I can see a lot of people worrying about a major casting announcement this late in the game but I suspect he might be an after credits sequence or perhaps something that will lead to a sequel

I wonder if Randall will only be in flashbacks in the movie and we’ll meet the older Shin in the sequel.
