Now that all three are out how would you ranks them (best to worst)?

I haven't played any of them. I don't really care for superheros outside of comic books at all anymore which is why I no longer even watch or follow superhero movies. But shouldn't this topic wait till at least people actually beat the latest game first? I mean didn't it just literally come out today?

Some people have already played it for at least 2 days. And the campaign itself is fairly short. You get through it in like 8-10 hours if you don't waste too much time on side quests.

It's hard to say - they aren't that different in terms of gameplay. I mean, okay, I haven't played Arkham Origins that much, but so far the gameplay is pretty much the same as Arkham City with a few new tweaks. For what is worth, I don't think it's a bad thing since these have been very good games from the beginning so I'm not complaining even though in terms of gameplay novelty, it's kind of "same old, same old" by now.

In terms of story all three are solid (again, can't speak much about Origins yet but I do like what I've seen so far) but I think that City is better than Asylum (it's just that the main plot with the Joker's ultimate goal was... silly, and not in a good way).

So, if I have to rate them from best to worst, it'd be something like:
Arkham City
Arkham Origins (with the note that I might like it better than City but I need to play some more before I can say anything conclusive)
Arkham Asylum

why are you here?

Anyways, I haven't played Origins yet, but City is clearly superior to Asylum. Both some of my favorite games though

why are you here if you've never played the games and have no interest in them?

Because I felt like posting in the thread. Just like you did.

I'd disagree with that ranking. Sure, Asylum's ending wasn't so great, but I feel like that game had better narrative and conceptual clarity. City was too big and tried to do too much in my opinion. The pacing really seemed to suffer as a result, as did the story. I also preferred how the gameplay elements were introduced in Asylum.

I've only just started Origins and it seems pretty good, but I can see why so many reviews are saying it is "Batman by numbers". So far it is lacking that certain Rocksteady magic.

I just discovered that Nightwing got his name, from an old tale about a Kryptonian vigilante...Superman told Dick Greyson the story and it inspired him. So with Nightwing existing in the Arkham games, plus the mention of Metropolis, would that mean that Superman does infact exist in the Arkhamverse?

Superman IS Nightwing IN Kandor.

This is the pre-Crisis version though. Post-Crisis version is indeed Clark telling Dick about some ancient Kryptonian hero called Nightwing.

On topic:

1. City
2. Origins
3. Asylum

would be my ranking so far. However I haven't finished all Most Wanted missions yet and then there are of course the challenge maps. And most importantly there is the question of how it will hold up on repeated playthroughs, which is one of the reasons I like City better than Asylum.

It's really difficult though because I think City is great in parts where Origins is lacking and vice versa. So I might just end up liking them equally.

Arkham City
Arkahm Asylum
Arkahm Origins

It's good so far, I think I'm close to the end; Rocksteady needs to take the series back though. Gotham is massive, but the attention to detail is nothing close to what it was in City.

All three are fantastic. City is just at another level. The debate between Origins and Asylum is close but Origins seems empty at times. They take such a large area and devoid it of any normal action such as civilian presence. So mine would go as follows.

Batman: Arkham City
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham Origins

In terms of the art/writing:

1. Origins
2. City
3. Asylum

In terms of gameplay

1. City
2. Asylum
3. Origins

Notes:

In terms of the map, I love Origins because of the abundance of activities and criminal presence. I do not want civilians in a Batman game, but was pleased with the alternating amounts of police officers and criminals. City, while it had the best gameplay, had an empty map. A few pockets of crooks...and that was it. Sure, the level of the decorations and textures on the buildings is unrivaled, it just felt empty. I'd go minutes without encountering thugs, whereas with Origins, I can hardly go two buildings without being shot at.

City and Asylum are tied at the top for me. The subtle narrative and gameplay strengths of one keep them in balance with each other.

Origins comes in last. The constant. freezes and bugs are annoying plus it is severely lacking in the intelligent design and elegance of the Rocksteady made games..the subtle gameplay differences get annoying at times. It is a very good game and should be even better once its patched next week. I hate how quickly Deathstroke is dispatched with in the storyline but at the same time love how much of a threat Bane is presented as. The city itself while large and populated isn't as recognizable landmark wise as it was in AC (good or bad depending on your tastes). Menus and unlock system were annoying. In the end a great game that was slightly rushed at the end.

1. Arkham City
2. Arkham Asylum
3. Arkham Origins

I think all three games are great and are easily the best superhero games that the gaming industry has to offer. AA and AC are easily two of the best games of the seventh-gen, with AC being one of the best games overall. AO ranks last due to its redundancy and it lacking the polish + attention to detail of the Rocksteady games. That being said, it is still a great game on its own.

As far as story/writing and art I have to go with

Origins
Asylum
City

But overall as games as a whole..

City
Origins
Asylum

I shouldn't vote, I really shouldn't, I haven't played Origins yet, but Riddler is my favorite Batman villain, so I will vote City just for the greatness done with him there

The overall gameplay is much better in City than it is in Asylum, and I'm one of those who don't think Arkham City has a bad story, I think it's proper, and very nicely done

Kevin Conroy tweeted he's voicing Batman in a third Arkham game, maybe we needed to wait for that before a poll is up?

Well it is rumored that the next game will be called Arkham Knight and will be coming out next holiday season,It's supposed to by Rocksteady and so that probably means a sequel to AC.

IF true then I guess we'll be here late next year reevaluating our rank!

I find Asylum slightly better mostly because it was the first one and it had a more claustrophobic feeling to it but City improved in many levels and expanded the whole experience so I wouldn't argue with anyone voting for that. Origins on the other hand while still good it had many problems and is for sure inferior to the previous two games.

I couldn't say which was the best because Asylum and City both have unique strengths and weaknesses. Origins however is certainly the worst, while still featuring some impressive aspects. The scale of the environment is quite impressive and it doesn't feel too empty even though it's still very underpopulated for what is meant to be a massive metropolis.

City
Asylum
Origins

But Origins has the best story and characterization.
