    My top 5
    1. The Dark Knight
    2.Batman Begins
    3. Batman 89
    4. Batman Mask of the Phantasm
    5. Batman Forever

I like these five the most because in one way or another they get at the heart of what makes Bruce tick and what shaped him into becoming Batman. They each deal with his guilt, philosphy, and world view while at the same time striking the right balance between brooding and good action.

For me The Dark Knight Trilogy is ONE movie, just split into 3 episodes. Also, I cant rank Burtons over Nolans and vice versa, it may be the same character, but its completely different takes. Its like asking which movie is better, Dracula or James Bond. SO pretty much my ranking would be

    1. The Dark Knight Trilogy/ Burtons Duology

    2. none of the others

Thats why you would rank them, bc they are different. If they were the same take, then it would be a tie

I find this hard... lemme try...

    1. Batman '89 (great cast, music, and a great beginning and end, but a flabby middle)
    2. Batman Begins (great cast and atmosphere, ala B89 -maybe more so- but an oft-hammy script)
    3. Batman Returns (again for cast and atmosphere, music, but the script isn't as interesting)
    4. Mask of the Phantasm (great mystery, great anti-hero in the Phantasm and Joker is divine)
    5. The Dark Knight (Less atmosphere than BB, more spectacle, but a less interesting Wayne, the insufferable Dawes, Caine and Freeman still playing fictionalised versions of themselves...)
    6. Batman Forever (Kilmer's a good casting decision to replace Keaton, but the beginning of Batman's 90's live-action decline...)
7 Batman and Robin (not the end of civilisation, but pretty terrible)

Just to make myself feel important, I'll just announce that my list will come as soon as I've seen "The Dark Knight Rises", someday next week, I guess. :word:

Really, I feel so lucky that as a Batfan I have so many great movies to watch whenever I want to. (Then again, I just want more!)

Ranking every single movie - animated, live action, DTV...as long as they are a full movie (not like Gotham Knight).

    1. The Dark Knight gets to the top thanks to its outstanding tension and spectacular use of villains. 10/10
    2. Batman Begins is the perfect origin story for Bats. Also the best movie about Batman himself. 10/10
    3. Batman Returns is the most visually stunning Batman film. A German-expressionism/fairytale interpretation which still feels fresh - it's like a wonderful 'elseworlds' film now. 9.5/10
    4. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - Still one of the best Batman stories ever written. 9.5/10
    5. The Dark Knight Rises - A great film, but some flaws in pacing and character portrayals stop this from being brilliant. A good Bruce Wayne film, but not necessarily Batman. 8.5/10
    6. Batman (1989) - We owe a lot to this film. Still fantastic after 23 years. 8.5/10
    7. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker - Took the Beyond concept to an entirely new level. 8/10
    8. Batman: Year One - Wonderful, though a little short. Expanding it a little would have been great. 7.5/10
    9. Batman: Under the Red Hood - A strong animated entry, though Jason Todd is not really my character of choice. 7/10
    10. Batman: The Movie (1966) - Awesome time capsule of 1960s pop culture. 7/10
    11. Batman: Sub-Zero - More like an extended episode, but a great one nonetheless. 7/10
    12. The Batman vs. Dracula - Same as above, but not quite as compelling. 6.5/10
    13. Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman - A flawed film but a decent watch. 6/10
    14. Batman & Robin - At least this film knows what it is - you can give it credit for not trying to be serious with all of its camp, unlike Forever - which tries to mix psychological trauma with fluorescent lighting. 4/10
    15. Batman Forever - A terrible mix of tones, this has the fewest redeeming qualities for me. 3.5/10

Wow - fifteen films? Man, that's not enough!!!

    1. The Dark Knight Rises. I love endings, and it was so well done. Had everything you could want.

    2. The Dark Knight. Broke the superhero mold even more than Batman Begins did. Acting was top-notch and the climax was stunning.

    3. Batman Begins. Set the latter two up. Feels a bit like a prequel now, but it redefined comic book movies and stunned audiences into taking Batman seriously again.

    4. Batman (1989). Still a fun movie, but it pales in comparison to the Nolan films. It's a "different" movie but Keaton is still a great Batman.

    5. Batman Return. It's a little wacky, and the Burtonesque additions get old fast, but it's still got a great creepy atmosphere.

    6. Batman (1966). Not as fun once you're an adult, but I still love the "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb" bit.

    7. Batman Forever. Could have been good. Kilmer was a great Bruce Wayne. O'Donnell was fine as Robin. But Jim Carey and Tommy Lee Jones absolutely butcher this movie.

1000. Batman and Robin. Still the worst movie I've ever seen, next to Jason X.
