Hey, Cap - er - ComicGeek,

Nice stuff! There was one set I had that I was hoping to find when I cleaned out my mom's house when she moved, but alas, I didn't. I was going to ask if you had it. Love to see it again.

Then I saw you posted that link. I checked it out and played the video. Lo and behold, it was in the montage! Right where the song changes (LOVE the music from the old 60's cartoon!) at around 1:09. It was the Spider-Man Playcase. Loved that! It was a simple fold-up playcase that had stand-up characters, you know cardboard with the plastic stand, like from a board game. Anyway, the art was by Jazzy Johnny himself! Not only was it Spidey and all his villains (including the likes of the more obscure Prowler & Shocker), but all the supporting characters! Aunt May, JJJ, Robbie, Gwen, MJ, Pete, Harry, Flash, Betty, etc. etc. This was the coolest toy that was actually related to the comics and not just generic stuff!

Man, if you have that, I's love to see pix!

That's it, Collector! It was such a simple toy, but it was cool because all the characters from the comics. I was proud back then because I knew who they were.

Guess I was wrong about what was in it. I thought it had Gwen, but I guess they didn't since she was already dead at the time. Though Goblin was there. I thought Shocker, Sandman, & Vulture were there, but I guess I'm wrong. Dig MJ with the fringe!

Thanks for posting that!

Seeing this old stuff got me nostalgic.

I recently bought a turntable with USB cable to transfer some records to mp3's. One of the records I went for was my Amazing Spider-Man Rockomic! (copyrighted 1972, Buddah Records). You guys remember this? I loved that record. That was right around when I first got into Spidey.

Anyway, I transfered the first song on it. I love it! The early 70's waka waka guitar takes me back. I love the way the song starts building up behind the Kingpin, as he threatens Peter until it finally explodes:

Kingpin: "You've got twenty-four hours to get the job done. And remember no tricks! If you want to see your Aunty May alive . . . Spider-Man . . . must . . . die!"

"Crawl like a spider
Love like a man
Everybody's talking 'bout that marvel Spider-Man
Amazing! Amazing!
How does he ever web?
Move like a spider
Groove like a man
Wallcrawling super-hero, your friendly Spider-Man
Amazing! Amazing!
How does he ever web?"

Don't forget: Your ladies sex machine, he makes all the little girls sigh

Funky little ditty it is. I have a lot of the original promotional items for that release as well as the 8-track, and cassette versions. Check more out here. http://www.spidermancollector.com/Toy Gallery 34.htm

I also have that very recording up on YouTube with a makeshift video here. http://www.youtube.com/user/SpidermanCollector

and here is a promo sticker rarely seen for it below...

Awesome promo! Or should I say Groovy?

Nice videoes! Reminds me as a kid listening to the record and following along with the comic strip in the inner jacket! But you cut off the song! Oh well, groovy anyway! Far Out!

Jealous, Cap (nice to see the old user id :woot:!)

I would be happy just to have the issue! The oldest I have is ish #28, I think.

Donald,
As always I enjoy your site. I figure its best to put the toys out there on the web to share with everyone instead of locked up unseen in a vault somewhere. I know that my students like to see the items, and ask me lots of questions about them,...although that could be just to keep me away from assigning them new work. lol

A (semi) rare Spidey Christmas stocking...
