Now that you've seen Brandon Routh's performance in the film, what is your assesment of him as:

1.) Clark Kent:

2.) Kal-El:

3.) Superman:

Man, I don't know if rewatching SM:TM is such a good idea. I'm doing it right now and all these Christopher Reeve shadows keep dwelling in my head. The questions are coming up again...will Brandon exude the same confidence that Christopher had.

Lois, "Wait...who are you?"

Superman "A friend"

The trust you felt in those two words made all the difference in the world. I just hope BR can come close to that...because that's going to be the dealbreaker/maker for me.

Routh > Reeve.

in every single way, in my opinion. i'm not even trying to start a fight, or debate over that statement, so please don't start, i'm just saying... Reeve was great, for his time, which was 20-ish years ago, he was the greatest onscreen representation of superman (which isn't saying much, looking at his competition up until that point) and a wonderful man in real life... but, Routh is the new superman. his Clark, Kal, and Superman are just as good, if not better than Reeve's in every department: his flying, movement, the way he carries himself, his clark isn't a damn 'gee golly' dufus (well, he is a dufus, but in a realistic way) the hair, the voice, delivery of his lines, charisma, everything... then, add on top of that the better special effects, suit, and dialogue he's given (which admittedly has nothing to do with Routh, but sells his superman even more) and that's it.

i couldn't ask for a better superman.

His Kal is the best.

*EDIT*

I ment Clark, not Kal :o. I cant wait too see all the Kal-El scenes they cut out of teh film though.

you think so, mentok?

i liked it alot, but it seemed kind of... stiff in parts. oh well, different strokes, right?

i liked his clark more than anything.

I don't see how the first and second pictures depict two different characters. Both the first and second show Clark Kent, and the third is Superman, which is a persona that reconciles both his human upbringing (Clark Kent) and his Kryptonian heritage (Kal-El.) Don't tell me you Superman fans are still clinging onto the three persona interpretation.

Brandon Routh sucks. What a poor actor. And what a bad boring movie...

and if we are?

If you are, you're interpretation is fundamentally flawed. But I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Oh, and about Routh's performance, I haven't seen the movie, so I can't give a fair assessment. But I will say that I have no doubt that he will do an excellent job, but I'm not too sure if he will portray my Superman.

how's it flawed? does Clark Kent act the same way in both Metropolis and on the farm?

Just got home from the movie....and I must say: ROUTH IS SUPERMAN.

Surpassed Reeve, he was terrific.

Just because a person acts a certain way in different situations doesn't mean that there's another persona at work.

all done amazingly heads up to Routh no one could have done it better! He did a great job the whole movie , I was very satisfied with his performance! Thumbs Up!

per·so·na (pr-sn) The role that one assumes or displays in public or society; one's public image or personality

as Superman he plays the role of a savior, as Clark Kent in Metropolis he plays the role of a mild mannered reporter, as Clark Kent on the farm he can be himself. 3 different personalities for 1 character...

...how is that flawed?

Routh needed a ton more to do. I loved him, but he just didn't have enough to say, to do. I want to see Clark looking for an apartment. I want to see him coming to grips with Lois Lane moving on and maybe trying to move on himself. But it just seemed like, after a while, it was all Lois. Clark and Supes took a backseat.

A lot of the stuff from the beginning, that was very Routh centric, was cut out. All of the exploring Krypton stuff, almost all of the Smallville stuff, and even some Metropolis stuff.

I thought he still sounded a little too Clarky as Superman. I think his voice even cracked a couple of times.

I think Brandon did a was good at the job given to him. This role was obviously written for none other than Christopher Reeve, and with that in mind Brandon did just fine. In the sequel, if there is one, Id like to see him get more to do, make the role more his own.

Doesn't surpass Reeve but does a great job, but I wanted to see more Kal-el! They shouldve eliminated the parts where Lex and dudes are on the new continent and replaced it with more Smallville and Krypton exploration.

What I loved about his portrayal is how it sort of flowed from each of the aspects of his life. It didn't feel like he was putting on an act as ewither Clark or Superman. Just that it was simply what Clark is like when he's doing those things. He is the noble hero, but at the same time he has a bit of the unsure of himself geek in him. It just takes the right situations to bring out those qualities. It felt much more organic. Sort of felt like a blend of George Reeves and Christofer Reeve's portrayals.

What an intelligent thoughtful post noob.

My favorite Clark moment is:

Richard and Lois are talking about the powers of Superman and Clark is overhearing the entire conversation, Richard starts asking Lois about Clarks height, weight, and so forth. Then basically starts hinting that he(Clark) may be Superman. Clark then turns to give the most awkward nerd like stare, then wave like a fool.

That was charming, cute, and pure Clark Kent in my opinion. I loved that moment and it shows what a great actor Routh and Clark Kent is(IMO).

I thought Routh did a great job in SR. He did a brillant Clark Kent without being too goofy like Reeve did, even thought I love Reeve. His Superman really display some emotions more than I ever seen in a Superman movie. As Kal-El, I can't say much since we barely seen that one much, even thought he was ok. Overall, kudos to Singer who stick with an unknown that can act. Routh is going place. :)
