Haley was born to play Rorschach. He was that good.

Everyone goddammit, and I liked Ackerman, apart from her first lines, but damn, does she look good naked.

Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Patrick Wilson were definitely the best. I was very impressed by Wilson. It's not really a flashy character compared to the likes of Rorschach or The Comedian, but he absolutely nailed the nervous aspect of Dan.

Jackie Earle Healy was a tour de force. I've read reviews that bash the movie but still have something complimentary to say about his performance.

I also think Patrick Wilson did a good job and I actually liked Nite Owl more this time around than when I read the book.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan fit the role of comedian and he elevated his scenes.

Jackie Earle Haley impressed me the most. His performance as Rorschach is up there with Heath Ledger's Joker, and that's saying a lot. Rorschach is one of my favorite fictional characters ever (gee, I'm so original :P), and Haley couldn't have done a better job. I'll be buying the DVD just because of Haley's performance.

Other notable mentions are Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Billy Crudup.

Patrick Wilson - He absolutely made this movie for me. He protrayed Dan much like I envisioned him from the comics and he absolutely blew me away. I couldn't wait to see his next scene.
Matthew Goode - Nailed it. Who cares what he looks like physically, he nailed it IMO. I was looking forward to his little quip towards the end, "Do you honestly think I would explain my masterstroke if you had any chance of affecting it's outcome?" Despite the change of "did it" to "triggered it", I was blown away. A very nice surprise.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan/Jackie Earl Haley - The two with the showiest roles delivered. You could honestly tell that they both deeply enjoyed their work and brought their A-game.
Billy Crudup - At first, the calmness of his voice unsettled me a bit. I knew it would be the one thing about his character that I might take exception with, but I found myself enjoying his performance nonetheless.
Malin Ackerman - Wow. Lemme just put it this way, I expected week-old meatloaf leftovers and wound up getting a reasonably priced meal that was simply okay. Nothing special. Which is surprising because I thought it would be terribad.
Everyone else - Very solid for the most part, but I agree Carla poured the old lady on a little thick. Nothing that really bothered me too much.

If Watchmen was released in 2008, Patrick Wilson would deserve Heath's Oscar.

I agree 100%.

My votes went to :

Jackie Earle Healy: Guy did amazing work on this and he was def one of the highest points of the film and the character the audience couldn't wait till they got to his scenes.

Billy Crudup: Portrayed a genuis perfectly...this is what Reed in F.F. should have been like.

Jeffery Dean Morgan: See answer for JEH :woot:

Frewer: Guy is always entertaining and has so much talent yet never gets used.

Carla and daughter: Both were smoking hot :woot:

Got to tell ya if idiots like you keep popping up. It will make me like the movie less each time, & I really liked this movie alot. So please. Stop being stupid.

So wait, a couple people's opinion cause you to hate a movie? Wait, what?!?

And relax. It's an opinion. One I happen to share. It's not like the whole world is going to explode.

It isn't just one persons opinion. People like you spread like Roaches, & you have to insert you opinion everywhere. I am tired of it, so I am just voicing my opinion on people like you. Oh wait I forgot people like you only want to give opinions not listen to them.

I have no problem listening to people's opinions. However, you phrased your comments in what can be considered less than an opinion and more as a direct attack on someone who just happens to think something differently than you. If you have no problem listening to others opinions, then I apologize, but something tells me otherwise based on your comments.

the only bad actress wsa Malin Ackerman....idk if it was just her lines but in the GN Laurie complained alot but still seemed a mentally strong women
Akerman just whined and just fell flat for me. It seemed underacted

But it wasnt god awful....especially with that sex scene

Smells like a troll. And I'm sorry, but where in your first post did you type in an opinion? You were just insulting another poster for stating something they thought. You were presenting your opinion, you were being an *******.

On the other hand, while Heath couldn't have done a better job with Joker, Wilson would've deserved at least a nomination. Earle Haley, too. From someone like Zach Snyder, I was surprised he pulled off such sincere and complete performances.

Well, they're great actors in the first place.

But I loved everyone. The one that annoyed me was the pedophile.

Everyone love(s)d Rorchach. The audience responded so well to him and I think they loved Dan too.

Wilson did great, I liked him here better than I did in the GN. I was totally shocked that he was actually nude looking at the owl suit. I didn't expect them to do that.

Gugino was alright. I thought she did well in the rape scene (not in that way) But I was disapointed to see her at the end where she didn't kiss Blake's picture and cry. Was that even filmed? Because it seemed to me there was more to that, she said she was going to freshen up. She looked troubled, you could tell.

JEH was amazing as Rorschach and yes I can't imagine anyone better for the role...but oscar noms? He was under a mask throughout most of the film which only really leaves a couple of scenes to truely base the acting on...can we really give out an oscar for just that couple of scenes?

That isnt in the movie? Damn. I actually JUST finished the book and I must say that part was Sally's most heart felt part. It was almost like she knew he did something terrible, but in a way, still loved him.

Hurm... Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach. Possible award nomination? Yes. No need to investigate further.

For me, it's a tie between Jackie Earle Haley and Patrick Wilson--both actors did a fantastic job of bring Rorschach and Dreiberg to life. Further to his acting, even Wilson's physique mirrored how Dreiberg was described in the book--excellent all around.

Jackie Earle made me love Rorschach even more. Kudos, guys. They definitely did their homework.

I really don't give a sh** what you think I smell like. I am tired of people insisting on comparing everything to everything. Especially to Heaths performance. Hate to dissapoint you fanchildren, but there is no one in Watchmen that could even touch Heaths performance.

The Watchmen is an incredibly good film. I like it a lot. How ever the Dark Knight is on a whole different level of film.

I enjoyed Rorschach Halley really had the brains to know where to go with the character, in his manerisms and his line deliveries.....but God the other actors were like B Movie actors...they can't carry a film not even in a group...

they missed the mark with the cast...for a Graphic Novel that has a lot of character depth they should have gone with people who can act. there was no depth...

even Manhattan being turned into the blue being he ends up, being...he just slaps the door and yells angry DONT LEAVE ME!

there should have been fear and sadness and horror in his voice, that he's gonna die, and that his lover sentenced him to die alone...but some actors don't have the brains to go there to such depths of thought...

if you don't agree with me, watch an interview with the chick who plays Spector she talks about her camel toe in a watchmen interview.

I really dug the performances for both Rorschach and Manhattan. Rorschach was just spot on, and Manhattan brought an interpretation that never entered my head when I read the book which I think is better than what I imagined. His detachment was illustrated by his he seemed to struggle his way through simple conversations, as if he's so far removed from the human condition that the difficulty of socialization is too much for him, and he'd much rather just watch quarks float by forever because it's simpler and he understands it.

Agree with your comments about Manhattan, although that is actually how i interpreted his character from the novel. Someone mentioned in the other thread that they expected his voice to be more commanding and godlike--on the contrary, I never felt Manhattan saw himself as a "god," so it's more suitable that his character was portrayed this way.

You pretty much summed up what I was going to say about Doc Manhattan.
