Why are you the only one here who makes sense?

Would it be against the law to use a Batcave like Burton's in future Batman movies?

Who cares if Burton's was accurate to the comics?

Focus people.

I think the main complaint is the biased slant that the poll was set up as. Using a standard rating system (1-5, 1-10, Good/Bad in general) would have been better.

It would be odd if they made a sequel to TDKR and he suddenly had a batcave like Burton's. Yes it would. Just like how it woulf have been odd if he was wearing the Burton suit at the start of TDK instead of the Begins suit.

The debat is why does it look nothing like TASM suit and so much like Raimi's. I thought this was the sequel to TASM.
This is not the debate so stop trying to make it that. We're talking about the design merits of the suit on its own. If you want to talk about the design process that goes into making the suit look more like TASM or Raimi's then make a thread for that and stay in it.

Yes, that does not change that you're saying the debate is "why does the suit look like Raimi's when this is TASM" when it is not the point of this thread.

From the little look we have, I love the new costume look. Adore it. But I refuse to vote it over the Raimi look. I don't like comparing Webb's and Raimi's Spidey. They are different entities and as a fan of both I will let time decide.

Because I don't feel the need to "defend" everything, even when it doesn't need defending?

I don't know. I thought this was TASM 2.

People want comic accuracy but in a different way than the Raimi films had accuracy.

That's not always possible.

If the next Batman movie has a comic accurate Batcave it's going to resemble Burton's.

It's unavoidable. You can't have cake and eat it too.

If the new Batman series has a different looking batcave, that is fine because it isn't a sequel to a film that has already established what the batcave looks like.

Wish we could see the whole thing. But from what I can tell this is the best one yet. LOVE the eyes. It's perfect.

The thread started stated that the biggest debate going on on these boards was about whether this suit is better then Raimi suit. My point was that isn't the debate.

The eyes are outstanding!

Absolutely. Big and round like Mark Bagleys. Plus they're nice and white. No mirrors, no icky yellow. Beautiful.

Even the raised webbing looks good. At least it isn't all silvery.

I love the new suit :D. Best suit yet and the eyes and the mask are just perfect. Can't wait to see the whole thing.

It really has nothing to do with Raimi. Raimi adapted the costume straight off the page and Webb wanted to do this too. I think (and this is only my theory) that they always planned to do this in mind but decided to have a new costume in the first movie of the reboot in order to establish to everyone that this is a new Spidey and also in order to establish the realism of the universe Webb created. But now with those 2 factors gone, they can finally do the costume from the comics .

So the suit in the comics has raised webbing?

Stop using raised webbing to argue your point. Raised webbing is not the only thing that matters in making a classic suit...not to mention the raised webbing here is obviously not nearly as pronounced in this new costume as some of us keep saying. If they feel raised webbing helps define the classic costume better on live action then power to them for using it.

I really like the new costume, though I'm surprised than it looks more like Raimi's suit than Webb's previous design (not that it's a bad thing). Wish they would've kept the black webbing and more vibrant colors from the ASM suit. I can't fully judge until I see the whole thing.

No, but it certainly matters when you are going to use Raimi's suit. :funny:

Last time everybody *****ed because it looked like a basketball. Now they alter it and people ***** because of the webs. Unbelievable.

Why does the costume have to look similar to ASM?

They're moving much closer to the comic design regardless of what Raimi did.

Because that design does not exist in the TASM "world". There has to be an explanation for the change. Much like in The Dark Knight, they did a good job explaining the costume change.

Personally I think this is not Webb's decision but Sony's. I think they wanted to go back to the Raimi design. That's just my speculation, but if that's anywhere close to reality, then that's not a good sign.

I didn't like the TASM suit when I first saw it, but it looked great on film, and that's all that matters.

I realize there are microscopic differences, but let's not BS. This is 99.5% the Raimi suit, with the new lenses Photoshopped onto it.

That said, wow. I mean.. they were going in this brave new direction with the suit, like Nolan did with Batman... and then they just totally backed down. Innovation? What's that?

What if The Dark Knight Rises used the Michael Keaton Batsuit, but with no yellow oval and a bigger bat emblem? That's what this feels like to me. In fact, it screams 'I'm a fan manip'!

I liked the Raimi suit, but it was time to move on to something fresh and new and creative. This is the direct OPPOSITE of that. The new series has all but lost it's unique visual edge now. Very disappointing.

Don't get me wrong. I love the lenses. I just wish we could have had something that wasn't so boring and 'been there, done that'. I had 3 Spider-Man movies with this costume. Do we really need to backtrack instead of blaze new trails??

No, but it certainly matters when you are going to use Raimi's suit. :funny:
And once again, there is nothing wrong with using Raimi's design aesthetic, which is what Sony and Webb feels works best with the classic costume.

So you are taking each individual comment and you know how each person felt about TASM suit?

That is amazing. :wow:
Stop being snide. You know that is a figure of speech. He was not talking to you and if he were he would have quoted you. Everything is not about you bro.
