Rate the New Suit

As many of you are aware, some photos surfaced recently of Tom in his new getup:

So, what do you think of it? Like it? Hate it? Post away...

I like it & can accept it for what it is, which is a prototype/experimental outfit.

It does show progression in development to something more classical. Hes had a red & blue "suit" (if you want to call it that) & now hes had a suit with a logo & a cape like trenchcoat. Next stage should be a combination of the 2 designs perhaps adding another element in the process.

Either way its a touch of realism added to the development & evolution of how the character designs his "official/final" Superman suit & that its not just some sort of on the spot instant design.

Theres already a few threads discussing how they feel about the outfit & theres also the comments section on main page thats flooded with comments.

I too am in the camp of liking it and cant wait to see how it evolves during the season and a potential 10th season. Plus many of us know this is just a prototype suit and first steps getting clark into a suit, so i am fine with it. I hope we get a red/blue suit soon. Plus we have to see in the story wise if its explained why he is looking the way he is before we ***** on it more.

I was listening to the commentary by Brian Peterson for the episode Identity on the Season 8 DVD set and he commented that it was going to be quite challenge to get this Clark Kent to want to put on a pair of tights and a cape because to date, he has been so far based in reality that to put on such an outfit would seem unreal and forced by something because that's the way its meant to be.

I think this suit is a great stepping stone to what we know will eventually become.

I like a lot more than I hate it:

Not wild about the collar and I think I need to see a better image to see how well it hangs on Tom, but the look is bold and I ADORE the boots, the black jeans and the almost spray-painted on .

If it had been just the shirt with S logo I would have said a nice representation of the Superboy outfit...as is, with the coat, I think Punisher or Matrix.

Awful. Cheap looking. Clark going ALL dark and angsty just doesn't work for me.

I was hoping we were getting away from Emo Clark, with all the dark colors and the "why am I here??" stuff, but this suit takes us right back. I think the trench is a little silly, but seeing the on his chest makes up for it.

As long as we see the start of a progression into something more "Supermany" as we go, I'm OK with it.

well we know its probably going black firstly to honnor the return from death stuff from comics, in memorial of fake jimmy's death, and wanting to turn away from his human side. But whos to say by mid season he isnt donning a brighter outfit and all that. We just have to see how everything comes into play story wise.

I like it I think a few things could be better. I do like the boots but I wear a similar style myself. To me something about the jacket just seems off, I just can't put my finger on it. I've always been a fan of the black Superman suit from the Retun of Superman.

i think its a nod to life suit from Doomsday & Jor-el outfit from superman movie myself,
Coupled with other kryptonians choices of wardrobe in smallville, ZOD/LEX ,ZOR-EL think it's logical clark may use a similar look at first.

How does a T-shirt + trench coat = "suit?" I wouldn't even quantify it as a "costume."

Putting aside the reason(s) for which Clark choses to sport his family crest on his chest this season, not to mention the shift from his more typical blue T-shirt and red jacket ensemble, the similarities to Punisher and Neo are kind of off-base when clearly, there appears to be a much more obvious nod going on...

I understand the moderizing but spray painting a S symbol in what looks like white seems unnecessary to me. I would think he could afford to have it sowed on.

As mentioned earlier it's probably a nod to Jor-el's kryptonian robes & first modern move towards a cape.

What "NEED" is there for Superman to have a CAPE at all other than appearance ?
Would be more aerodynamic without one.

We don't actually know yet HOW the \S/ got there.....
perhaps it fades the more human he acts or something... All we know is this outfit signifies his kryptonian heritage & training.

Well Superman without sleeves would be SUPERBOY & he's a little old for that.
So something with sleeves is needed ,he already wears jackets, so long coat would be next logical step towards a modern suit & cape...Again Zod/Lex Zor-el Kryptonian robes & if its a nod to the life suit Skin tight outfit wouldn't sit right with clark it's Too similar to Brainiac outfit. IMO

I Personally think the dark stuff is alternate timeline related in this season but we'll see.
