RCS Messaging Thread: Texting of the Future

That's Google Messages with the original One UI skin on the S21 series. They changed it to the current one, but it used to have pitch black on top and a dark grey frame around the messages. I prefer that version tbh, but it went away when they added reactions.
Oh I see. I've never had a Samsung phone for myself, so I'm not too familiar. I got the Note 10 for my mom back in the day and I remember putting RCS on her phone for her, but she's got an iPhone now.

I do think all Android phones should just be on Google messages as the default. Uniformity is going to help, and disparity is only going to make the blue/green bubble problem worse.

RCS will officially come to iPhones September 16th.

FINALLY!

Never realized how old that Weeknd GIF is until I saw the phone. Abel losing his hair is a whole other debate. :o
Ohhhhhh yeah hahahahahaha. That was his iconic, pineapple look. He surprised so many fans when he cut it in 2016, but I guess it is kinda his thing to switch up his look for every new musical project.

Now here he is promoting the latest iPhone in his latest music video :o

I had my first RCS conco with an iPhone user today (besides my wife lol) and YES the wait was worth it

Now it's time for Microsoft to support RCS for Google Messages. Phone Link only gets RCS on Samsung devices using Samsung Messages. The irony is Samsung is discontinuing their Messages app for Google's.

I am clearly not as tech savvy as you lol what is all this? Phone Link? and what is its connection to Microsoft & Samsung?

Windows connects to Android phones using their app called Phone Link. The app let's you call and text from your Windows PC. Microsoft and Samsung have made special deals with their phones since the S8 line by having MS apps pre-installed and deeper integration with Phone Link by having it baked into One UI on Galaxy devices.

ohhhhhh. if that's the case, then yes! Microsoft needs to support RCS too! in fact, I have a Macbook on which I use iMessage a lot. I wonder if RCS has been added to its version of iMessage too?

You can always test it and see.

whoa, are you sure? I just looked at my wife's phone again and the bubbles look exactly the same color as the SMS ones.
I'll have to double check my dad's phone, but his didn't look like the bright green I remember iPhone used.

Lemme know what you find. Apple is absolutely banking on their users not even noticing the upgrade, so from what I can see it's literally the exact same.

Ironically, Apple’s shift to RCS has helped fuel WhatsApp’s latest campaign which—unsurprisingly—promotes the fully secure, fully private cross-platform messaging it brings in the way no-one else can do as seamlessly and effectively.

I knew it.

I have a MacBook and I noticed that when my wife reacts to my iMessages with something other than the default 6, I still get a separate iMessage with the reaction instead of the reaction. This confirms it to be the case from iOS 18 iPhone to non iOS 18 iPhone.

Thought another family member upgraded only to learn they got a Pixel 9 Pro.
