I doubt this will happen. The script is already written so unless there's a principle character we don't know about yet, I have no clue who he or Foster could play.

Robert is raising eyebrows with his efforts on behalf of his longtime best pals Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson... He wants to bring Mel and Jodie into the Marvel universe, preferably in one of the Avengers films. It's been a longtime dream of Robert's to help Mel and Jodie reach similar big box office heights like the ones he's achieved in recent years.

I can easily see Foster in the Robert Redford type higher authority role. She's terrific and would be a great addition. (Lets wipe that Elysium performance from memory..lol)

As for Mel, nope..not happening. Even though i'm sure he'd make a sick villain, Disney isn't going to want to touch him with a 10 foot pole. Avengers is a monster 4 quadrant franchise that appeals to everyone and ruffles no feathers. No need for any kind of negative publicity

I think Marvel would let both Jodie AND Mel appear in a future film - Iron Man 4.

What T"Challa said. I don't think even RDJ has that kind of juice with Marvel.

Agree with the poster talking about Jodie playing an authoritative role. I doubt she would do it, but I could see her being a badass SHIELD Agent.

Mel is a no.

I hope not to either
Jodi's not bad, but her man-voice scares me
and Mel, oh Mel, how far the mighty have fallen, needing RDJ to beg for a role for him

I wish Gibson played Wolverine.

Beyond that I think RDJ has been hanging out with Shane Black (writer of Leathal Weapon) too much lately.

I would agree with you if they hadn't cast RDJ as Iron Man. I really don't think they'd care what past problems occurred with Mel if they liked him in a role.

I'd love to see Mel in a role.Back in the day,I always wanted him as Captain America.

i don't like either of those actors. and i can't, offhand, think of any existing characters they could play.

Marvel wasnt with Disney when RDJ was cast. They were an unknown company and for an upstart company, controversy can be good as it generates publicity and curiosity.

Marvel is a big dog now and they don't need any sort of negativity. Mel isnt going to make the Avengers any bigger than it already is anyway.

From the sounds of it, Disney lets Marvel do what they want to do when it comes to their movies. I agree that Mel probably wouldn't make AoU any bigger, but I'm also saying that I don't think his past would stop Marvel from casting him.

If Gibson has gotten his s*** together, sure, why not.
No problem at all with Foster.

I wish Gibson played Wolverine.

Downey has been hanging out with Black for over a decade at least. Kiss Kiss came out in '05.

Beyond that, Downey & Gibson also go back a long way. Gibson put a roof over Downey's head and helped him get back on his feet when the rest of Hollywood wouldn't touch him. Downey wants to return the favour.

i could see Foster as the mentor of whomever they get to play Carol Danvers; either as a former pilot, a magazine editor, or some kind of high ranking military official.

Mel Gibson would be a great addition to the MCU! He can only be a plus to the MCU! Same goes for Foster.

If the Hollywood and fans can accept Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant, and Roman Polanski then they can accept Mel Gibson.

But I really don't care either way. If he and Foster appear in the MCU, fine. If not, fine.

If there is a perfect part for him I'd love to see him in the MCU.
Haven't you all watched This Is The End?
All Hollywood types are reprehensible monsters, they're just there to entertain us.

The only way I can see Mel in MCU is if he's under heavy prosthetics.

Marvel would be doing well to get an actor of Gibson's calibre on board. I definitely would not sniff at him IF there was a role available that would suit him.

if a role came along that he fit into, that would be one thing, but I don't like the idea of RDJ just trying to help his friends find work

^I agree however it's one of RDJ's characteristics that I like about him in regards to sticking up for his friends. But it should be a situation of a good fit role for them rather than just getting crammed into any old role due to who they are.

Foster for Karnilla or Hela? Perhaps?
