Superman Returns Re: The Offical Jason Appreciation Thread

His whole life is a lie...he lives among humans as a human.

That's not so much a lie as it is a fib :p

Actually, if you'd like to get technical, as Clark he never says he IS human ;)

Yeah, he's deceiving everyone... Which isn't morally correct, no?

You know their is an easy solution for the ones who have a problem with Jason..don't go see the movie....my guess is and from what I have heard from the ones who have already seen the movie is that it is
just hinted at anyway that Jason is Superman's son..he could end up being Richard's in the sequels
...we don't know for sure yet. I don't know...just seems dumb to me to whine and complain before you see the movie....why not see it and judge it then?

Yes we do.

(1) He look's like Clark.

(2) He's 5 years old

(3) He has a weekness to Kryptonite

(4) He has powers .

(5) More than 10 reviews have already said he's SUPERMAN's son .

I don't understand what's everyone's problem with Lois & clark having a son . I'm super happy, It's about time these two super couple have super kids . [I want to see Clark teach his son to deal with his powers] [I want to see Lois as a mommy] After all Kids are the future . I can't wait to see them get a super kid in the comics, it's bound to happen now .:supes:

Me too. This is one thing I will enjoy if Singer goes that route. I remember in the novel when Supes gets his heatvision. They explain how he was scared, the bruning pain, and how embarrassed he was (he looked like a dolt leaving class). I just think it would be fun to see how he would deal with it. Save it for the last film however.

Gag me...it sounds like a damned Disney movie
Superman is not a lovey-dovey freakin Disney character, and if the plot evolves as such then we'll have "Sky High" all over again...no thank you

The kid is going to be the linchpin between Lois and Clark/Superman. Superman can't really be a father, per se. Clark is the father, but obviously Lois doesn't even know that he is Superman. That's the part about this that really gets me, and sort of takes a bit of the shine from the movie.

I don't see how it's possible for Lois to remember that she slept with Superman, but not know that he's Clark? That's crazy? Did that one memory come back, and if it did then she should know it's Clark because he had already told her.

Again this harkens to this vague stuff, and the fact that stuff can't be that vague. It doesn't make sense even if you don't bring it up because that makes Lois look like a complete dumb ass that she slept with someone, let him all up in her, but she still can't get past the glasses.

That's why I'm hoping the next movie focuses on what them having a child means for their relationship. I doubt will see Sky High 2: Superboy. As I have said repeatedly, that sounds like bull**** and most of you folks are saying that because you don't like the idea and are just saying stuff to be saying it.

One thing though...if Lex knows or suspects the kid is Superman's than we may at some point see the kid going all out, ie. using powers, etc, especially if Lex tries to kidnap him or use him against the MOS. However, I think that will probably be reserved for the last movie.

I was very worried about the kid in the movie. I have see too many movies where the kids kind of ruins the movie. In my opinion the kid was done very well in this movie. When you come away from the movie you are not thinking, "man I hate that kid", your thinking "wow, Routh is Superman." I still have no clue how they will do a sequel and where the kid will fit in but I think Bryan and his team can pull it off.

The Sky High bit i mentioned was in response to Kal8 hoping for somehting similar to that very thing.

I hope Lex never finds out about the kid, then it would just be a matter of time til he finds out Clarks' secret ID.

Really, i like bosef's idea of the kid dying for the greater good or leaving to expolore the universe.

As for how Lois remembers nothing, two words...Super Rufee

I think it is a very easy thing to figure out why Lois doesn't know....Superman didn't tell her the whole truth before he left and she didn' figure it out because she is in love with and spent the night with Superman not Clark. I don't think the memory kiss will be involved...she is just so head over heals for Superman she doesn't think of him and Clark being the same guy. How many years in the comics did she not know and the only disguise was a pair of glasses. As she was called in Lois & Clark.."The Galacticly Stupid" Lois Lane.

So no Super-Rufee??

See then I still have a wee bit of a problem with Supes getting that intimate with Lois and not sharing who is really is. (Not to mention at least bringing a rubber...I mean a dumbass frat guy is smart enough to do that! ). But it is a plausible idea.

I think Im going to have to agree with Kal-El 8 on this now;

I think I was underestimating the kid storyline. Superman being a father. We'll see how its handled in the film.

From what Ive recently just seen, it seems theyre laying the groundworks for Superman and Lois to have a child in the comics (just as Bruce Wayne has one..maybe 2 right now).

I dont mind Superman Returns being the launching board for this idea. It is a very bold move forward...one that may change everything.

People cant really complain now that SR doesnt break into new territory, it seems to chart it.

Maybe he didn't have time to tell her...we don't know how long it was from the time they got together and he headed off to Krypton...maybe he was waiting for the right time to tell her everything and then the trip to Krypton came up..or maybe it was too hard for him to tell her everything before he left...and hard for him to tell her goodbye. I don't know..I am just thinking here.

yeh cause what he said made sense to you you not me nor many others....

I can make up excuses all day and night justifying the kid like he is doing and you would be fawning all over how great I am.....
to bad I refuse to turn a blind eye to bad writing.

Bad writing? Explain to me again, because I'm awfully slow, how this is bad writing? You throw this phrase around like it's a be all and end all. That just by using the phrase, your argument will make sense when you've yet to prove your point. The others who aren't against the idea of a kid (Because kids ruin other movies!! Kids are dumb!! It's not Superman!!! He's a homewrecker!!) have presented a much better argument as to why the kid could work.

The kid dying for the good of the world???? Uhhhh...isn't that his dad's job???? What would the kid need to die for so the world can be saved?

I think people are just putting too much on this. Supeman/Clark and Lois have a child. They had it because they love it each other. However, from what I can gather from the reviews the thing that is STILL missing (sadly) is Lois doesn't know Clark is Superman. I don't want to think the movies will be like Spidey 2, but don't you think her finding out and them possibly working on a relationship and Supes/Clark buidling a relationship with his son will be the b-story for the next movie? I mean, that would be the logical move.

I'm just thinking out loud really because I've been trying to reconcile the idea that Superman and Lois got it on, but that she doesn't know he's Clark. Rather you take the vague history from SII or just assume they did it at another time (which I'm beginning to think was before he left) then why doesn't she know? That's just crazy to me.

It is also a possibility that Richard and Lois don't stay together and he isn't in the sequel..so Superman and Lois & Jason can all live happily ever after.

Maybe in the next movie the kid is a teenagers and he cooks up Kryptonian drugs to sell to the kids, the drugs give you superpowers for a limited time. The kids are all high and superpowered and Superman has to save the day and lecture Jason on how drugs are bad.

The story was handled very well with the kid I have no doubt that Singer will find someway to make the kid fit without becoming smallville or being cheesey.

I believe you, and I've been in support of the kid the whole time. My issue is Lois doesn't know? How...I...just don't get it.

Strange, did you get any hints of a possible relationship in the future. I guess I'm trippin out because it does seem like Supes just flies off at the end and that's it:(

I'm talking more a relationship btw Lois and Clark/Supes. I gather that he will have a relationship with the child regardless.

well after Superman comes and see's Jason, he is asleep, he pretty much gives a Jor-el to baby Kal-el type speech to Jason. It was very, very emotional, it was a great scene and worked very well. He leaves through the window and Lois runs to the window to see him. She asks if they will ever see him and he says, "I will always be around". then he flies off.

I've yet to see a movie of this nature where they've introduced a kid subplot that was good. This has The Legend of Zorro/The Mummy Returns/Jurrassic Park/Every other crappy movie with a kid written all over it.

I can see it now "I can't wait til my super poppy kicks your...."
