....does anyone think that this would be the perfect basis for a future GR sequel? I think the story is amazing and since i started the GN i havent been able to stop reading it.

Obviously it couldnt be the 2nd movie, but maybe at the end of the 2nd movie, Johnny could end up going to hell at the end of the movie, and then for the 3rd movie we could get an adaptation of RTD. The GN is practically like reading a movie anyway, and it would be great to see Hoss, Ruth and Kazann on screen.

Would anyone else like the see this story adapted one day?

I thought it was a good read with amazing art. I personally wouldn't like to see it as a movie, because it reminded me of Dogma and I really didn't like that film. Too smug.

The riding through hell bit would look incredible on screen though. And I wouldn't mind seeing Miss Catmint too.

Ah, Miss Catmint...

Lol you liked Miss Catmint then, i see the comparisons with Dogma but dont think it would effect a movie adaptation to much to be honest.

^Yeah, she is a real badass though isnt she!!!!! Not someone i'd like to make mad!!!

You have strange taste, Midnyte!

Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer a lady who won't murderise me in cold blood.

Cool character though, and just finished the story last night, and IMO its the best GR story i have read, would love to see this turned into a movie!

No, thanks. I really, greatly disliked Road to Damnation.

I liked it BUT, it just confuses the new GR fans. like a friend of mine was arguing the origin of GR with me cause he read Road to Damnation and he never rele read GR before, so he assumed that the Road to Damnation series is the actual origin of GR and it isnt. i dont think its supposed to be canon, DEFINITELY shouldnt be, but many ppl think it is. especially cause of tthe series that came after it. THAT one i think i Supposed to be canon (it rele shouldnt cause its a mess), and also i think its sorta supposed to take place after Road to Damnation. if it is, then it doesnt make sense cause it changes drastically. it basically just took the origin story from road to damnation and did their own take on it with this current series.

the GR movie causes all of this, made such a big mess out of the GR comics cause Marvel wants to cash in on the GR hype from the movie. just like in the GR movie, the current series of GR in the MainMarvelverse has HHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGE Plot Holes. theyre trying to start from scratch b havign blaze be the rider again and it blows. they didnt even bother to mend what happened in the 90s series that got canceled before it could even finish up. its outrageous and ridiculous.

if they wanted to start over with blaze being the rider and not bother to fix the mess they made with the 90s series, they should have just made a Ultimate GhostRider series where there'd be no strings attatched to any previous messes they had made.

It had some fantastic art. But in the areas of story, characters, style, and tone, it in no way satisfied or entertained me as a Ghost Rider story.

yeah, thats cause garth ennis had no real knowledge of GR comics. he just thought GR had a cool thing with a flaming skull n bike. they prob had ennis do it so his fans would pick up the GR series.

I know some of GR's powers were slightly different, etc, but i enjoyed the story and found it a good read.

Well to be honest, i dont see how anyone could mistake RTD as an origin story, IMo its clearly not. Sure it makes some nods to GR's origin's, but even when the two angels are talking about him, some things they say make it clearly not an origin story IMO. For example "You cross this creature at you peril Malachi.........you wouldnt believe some of the name's that have come off second best against this one."

i dont see how either, but it does. ive witnessed it when a friend of mine n his friends got confused cause of RTD.

It's been a while since I read rtd, but all I remember was them giving (from my recolection) a fairly accurate telling of his origin in issue 1, I think. Then didn't say anything about the 90's stuff, then show that JB/GR are in hell and going from there. I don't see where that is a big deviation from continuity.
I've said before and am happy to say again. By Far the biggest distorting and bastardization of GR's history/continuity/legacy was all the **** they came up with in the 90's. The 90's stuff is what should be considered Ultimate material, not the new stuff, IMO. In fact revealing that the 90's was all ultimate would fix a lot. Nothing they are doing now comes anywhere close to the plotholes/deadends/and outright unbelievable BS that happened in the 90's.......................IMHO.

it wasnt accurate cause they had Blaze as GR again without any reason why. why is he GR again?, why is he in hell? it makes no sense. ennis was just following what that piece of crap series "hammer lane" had done n followed up.

sure there were plenty of mess's in the 90s run, but overall the GR character was way better. and the reasons why the 90s series had problems was cause everyone was trying to cash in on the comics n mucked it all up, just like theyre doing now. its one big mess after another. marvel has to smarten up n fix the crap theyve continued to made.

Blaze was in hell for selling his soul though wasnt he? And wasnt it revealed in the comics that Blaze will always have the GR in him because he is from Zaratho's bloodline?

How and why Blaze ended up in Hell for Road to Damnation wasn't explained until a recent two issue story in the new ongoing. RTD just glossed over it. At first it seemed to indicate he had just been dragged there after a chase by demons, but then there was the line "Suicides go to Hell, Johnny."

Why he's Ghost-ing out again isn't really clear.

(Though I'm more interested in finding out where Roxanne is, and where his kids have been disappeared to for a decade.)

Thanks for the info guys, i'm not really up to date on the more recent stories, i'm more of a 90's version reader and older Blaze stories reader.

I thought it was great. I wasn't a GR fan before, I read the old series, but it was way too....cheesy? That's not really the right word, I just didn't think they were well done, but I LOVED this..

I would like to see this as a sequel, but considering it would be an R, not gonna happen sadly.

I really liked RTD as well, and think it would make a great 3rd movie for this franchise. I'm halfway through Vicious Cycle as well which would also make a good movie.
