Really... That's your favorite?

I asked my friend his favorite comic character, the conversation went like this.

Me: You've never been vocal about it. Who is your favorite superhero?

Jack: Green Lantern.

Me: ... Which one?

Jack: The big one.

Me: Kilowog?

Jack: No... Mogo.

Me: Why? He's done like 4 things ever.

Jack: No, he helps.

Me: Helps what?

Jack: The other Green Lanterns.

Then he changed the subject. To each their own, just seems a bit strange of a choice. Does anyone else have a strange favorite superhero/supervillain or know anyone who does?

I want to know why I have to take so much crap because My favorite Superhero's are X-23, Supergirl and Batgirl (Stephiane).

I was talking to my friend and he wanted to know who my favorite heroes were and he Laughed at me saying how sad it was I like little girl comics and the only decent thing I read frequently is Green Arrow

but for me its not about weather its a girl comic or not, I really dont care about the sex of a hero, Why the heck can't a guy read a girl comic, I care about there personlitiy, also I don't want to read about Legendary Heroes who are Larger than LIFE AND THE greast thing EVER, I prefer reading about Trouble Makers and Screw ups trying to do what ever they can to help people.


also I take a lot of crap because My favorite Batman villian's are Scar-Face and the Mad Hatter.

An old co-worker thought Wolverine was the coolest s*** ever.....not the comic one but the movie version. Dude had no clue about his comic history or how awesome he was when he first appeared, and how he's been over-exposed in the last twenty years or so. I was poking fun at him having a mancrush on little hairy Canadians, (not that there is anything wrong with that of course!!), and he didn't understand what I was referring to...

This security guard at my work confessed that his favorite superhero was the Flash. And I was honestly shocked and pretty annoyed,I don't hate the Flash,but I don't even think that he is close to being good. The dude was even dumb enough to believe that the trailer he saw,was really for Flash's movie,and I neglected to tell him that it's bullcrap I think. But then again,he seems like one of those idiotic scrawny caucasian guys trying to act like a gangster with the way he talks.

I don't want to sound like a comic snob but it's impossible when it comes to this subject, but I really hate it when people who don't read comics talk about this subject. I have a Green Lantern tattoo on my forearm and yeah it can be used as a conversation starter but when the subject of Green Lanterns name comes up 70% of people just look at me blankly. I've had people tell me that Green Lantern is this favorite "comic guy" then not know that there is more then one GL.

oh, the only character I get a reaction similar to the topic title is the Penguin. I like the little guy, although the general census is that he is "lame" and "cheesy".

A terrible side-effect of the movie causes people to give me dirty looks when I say that The Spirit is my favorite comic character.

It's also kind of weird that my Top 4 favorite comic characters aren't really that huge in terms of recognition.

1. The Spirit
2. The Goon
3. Hellboy
4. Mr. Monster (being the guy that almost NO ONE has ever heard of)

and 5 is The Punisher.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that just about every story i've read featuring these characters have been flat out awesome, fun, exciting, compelling, etc... and the fact that most of the fans of these characters aren't a bunch of crazies like Batman and Superman fans who'll threaten to eat your babies if you don't like something.
