Sequels Reboot.

I don`t think a reboot is neccesary if they:

1)Start showing us some more. Sentinels, hellfire club, reavers, sinister, marauders, apocalypse anything but magneto and the brotherhood AGAAAAAIN.

2)Have a small stable cast without all the pointless cameos. Keep the team down to between 5 to 7 members and have just one cameo appearance if they must. This whole loads of x-men and loads of throwaway mutant appearances is getting old real fast. I don`t want to see madrox or psylocke just for a few seconds. Integral-to-the-story-character-cameos or not all i say.

3)Overall team exposure. No more wolverine only fights. No more whole plots revolving around only wolverine. Do the film like FF have almost equal time for everyone on the team. I want collosus to have a character arc in a movie instead of just a single line.

4)Less wolvie. Yes he is popular but he has his own film franchise now. He isn`t the team leader. He isn`t the only worthwhile character on the team. Have him as he is in the comics. The curmugeon member of the team who every so often rips someone a new one.

5)More varied fight scenes. How about a whole fight between collosus and somone? How about a one-on-oen between storm and someone? How about beast, angel and iceman triple teaming a baddie? Anything except more incessant wolvie centered fight scenes and finales.

If they can`t get those simple pointers right then yeah reboot the rubbish.

Well spoken...

But if they do reboot, they need to change the formula slightly because the original 5 is a hard sell every day of the year.

I got a great idea for an X-Men movie reboot here is my idea.

1: The film should be 3 hours & 30 minutes long.

2: Peter Jackson shoud direct it since he can give a epic feel to it.

3: The film should start from the original X-Men being trapped on the island of Krakoa and Cyclops comes back without the other to Professor Xavier then we go back in time with the whole origin story of the original X-Men and then we get back in present and Xavier starts recruiting new members for the team including (Wolverine,Storm,Banshee,Thunderbird & Sunfire to rescue the original team from the island of Krakoa.

4: It should have a writing team of David Goyer,Jeph Loeb & Chris Claremont for the film.

5: It should have the visual that the movie 300 had.

Character Roster

Professor Charles Xavier
Cyclops
Jean Grey
Wolverine
Angel
Storm
Nightcrawler
Colosuss
Banshee
Iceman
Thunderbird
Havok
Polaris
Beast (flashbacks & a cameo)
Magneto (flashback & a cameo)

Time for X-Men movies actually based on the comics. I'd love to see a series done like Spider-man, looking like the comics and not being afraid to just be what it is...a comic book movie.

All right, then the first movie should be the original five, wearing the original blue and yellow, fighting Magneto. Then the second movie would feature the Vanisher and be subtitled "Nothing Can Stop the Vanisher!" Sound good?

i think the "outlandish to begin with" arguement is a valid one.

as it is, x-men actually aren't your typical superheroes. most superheroes are beloved by the public, and may fight for nice things like justice and what not, but what it comes down to is the fact that they are really just fighting fancy, superpowered criminals.

x-men are not about that. sure, the comics are nice and flashy, with big time unusual power displays, and what not. but honestly, what i like about x-men isn't the costumes, the powers, the space travel - it's the fact that it actually has a very strong core, foundation to it about something that's bigger than fighting criminals.

it is the whole political aspect of x-men that appeals to me. when the x-men are fighting the brotherhood, the government, sentinels, etc... all of that appeals to me so much more than when the x-men are fighting apocalypse, mr. sinister, the phalanx, the brood, or some crazy alien race. what i remember the most about the cartoons i watched growing up, was the fact that the x-men weren't beloved by the public - they were feared and hated for what they were, but they still fought for what was right.

when the movies focused on that aspect, instead of the bright costumes and flashy power displays, to me, it was the x-men done exactly as they were supposed to be done.

when i read the comics, the stories that appeal to me the most are the more down to earth, more personal, and more political story arcs. the story arcs of the x-men traveling through time, and space, they don't appeal to me as much. crytorrak crystals don't appeal to me as much. shiar empires don't appeal to me as much. the political struggle - xavier fighting for equality and acceptance, while magneto fights for superiority because he will not watch mutants be oppressed any longer, THAT appeals to me. the x-men fighting against sentinels, the humans' weapon of oppression against mutant kind, THAT appeals to me. the personal conflicts between characters like wolverine and sabretooth, or gambit and sabretooth, or gambit and mr. sinister (one of sinister's better arcs i believe), those personal struggles appeal to me. the morlocks, the society of outcast mutants who live in the sewers, and their own struggles for acceptance, THAT appeals to me.

that is why i feel the x-men movies were done absolutely right. because they focused on what appeals to me. they focused on what makes the x-men special, unique. otherwise, they'd just be a really overblown version of the fantastic 4.

spiderman, superman, fantastic 4, those get away with being a bit more "comic book-ish" because well, they don't have a meaning that's really as deep as x-men. at least not in my opinion. all of those are more based upon the fact that these are fantastic characters, with awesome, larger than life powers. THAT is what THOSE particular characters are based upon, and therefore, that approach to the movies works.

x-men is different. it's based upon a theme, a message, and the fancy powers and such is there for entertainment purposes. it's much more than just super powered people fighting each other.

QFT. If you want bright costumes, stupid one-liners and flash without substance, watch Spiderman.

Very good point.

And...
flame me, but...bring in the SPANDEX!
If you want dark leather watch Terminator (or The Punisher, with Dolph Lundgren^^).
I want a film about comicheroes and comicheroes wear costums!

I don't think we need a reboot just yet...

If it ever happens...

I wanna see the X-Men Blue/Gold Teams as the main team with the 90's X-Factor as the New Mutants...

no need for a reboot yet, otherwise we would get more of the same, introduction of characters and so. a nice way would be if they went with the age of apocalypse storyline. it's a complitely different feel so it would feel like a new movie, it has nothing to do with the first movies so there is no need for continuity, and after that, who knows...
all it needs is a very good director who knows how to make an epic action flick and enough prep time

There's no need for a reboot EVER. You either continue along the thread that the studio started, or you let it die.

You don't start stuff over just because a few people want to see an O5 borefest.

So your still prefer Adam West over Christian Bale?^^
Not to mention Micheal Keaton...
ok, it was George Clooney who killed Batman, but that's another story...:oldrazz:
Maybe you think the same about Spider-Man or Punisher...
Yeah...Dolph Lundgren was cool.*gg*
Or you should go and tell your opinion to the maker of :bh:
Reboots are pretty common in comicbooks, but your may be right,
a movie shouldn't be like a comic, not even if you make a comic-movie...
[/ironie]

:woot:

In the future, a reboot would be nice... Some time after X4 and X5, though. ;)

x4 and x5 would go straight to DVD....please give me a reboot

How would you know that? The X-men franchise has like 40 years worth of stories they can use.Why would people want a reboot? Thats just wasting mometem. Its not as good as the first 2 but why people give up so easily on this?

I'm definitely for a reboot, and I'd like to see some time and possibly space travel. Work the entire trilogy around the Sentinels & Days of Future Past, include Cable & Bishop, tie it back to Apocalypse and Sinister, make Magneto's quest for mutant freedom the wildcard, and end it with Dark Phoenix to defeat them all. Flashback to the early days, keep it extremely close to the comics in terms of character personality, and make it gritty. Anti-mutant panic, human eradication by Sinister & Apocalypse, and a look at the future with the death of Wolverine. Finally, cast few, if any, A-listers and absolutely no Matthew Fox or anyone from the last trilogy and sit back and make more money than you thought possible.
